Revolution
« on: May 14, 2012 at 06:12 PM »

Revolution is an upcoming Fall 2012 NBC TV series set in a post-apocalytpic future where a mysterious blackout knocks out the world's power grid and destroys all sources of energy--no more cellphones, computers, and technology.

Official synopsis:
Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman's life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

Cast includes Billy Burke, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Guinee, Maria Howell, Anna Lise Phillips, David Lyons, Zak Orth, J.D. Pardo, Tracy Spiridakos, Graham Rogers, Andrea Roth

Created by Eric Kripke
Executive Producers: J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Eric Kripke

first pilot I've seen for the new fall season.. I enjoyed it.. the lead girl just felt boring to me, acting-wise.. cute though.. just don't watch the trailer posted here.. it spoils the whole pilot..

Me too. Acting was kinda lame. A lot of post-apocalyptic cliche scenes. May want to skip this till it gets impressive

There's a lot more cheese here than in Jericho... still, I enjoyed it.

Reminds me of Jeremiah, but starring Katniss Everdeen. Enjoyed this pilot more than the Falling Skies premiere, the other post-apocalyptic show with a twist.

Boring. Fell asleep halfway. It's really not selling the whole post-apocalyptic world bit. You have people that have come to terms with the fact that there are no more electronic powered technologies around -- they seem OK already. What's the story there?

Will try to finish it tonight.

I don't understand. Obviously chemical reactions still work because they have guns. But that should mean older cars without computers should also work. Or even steam engines. I hope this will have a satisfactory explanation.

Yeah, and these people don't seem to remember that a potato can also be turned into an energy source.

And that Edison and Tesla worked with so much less to discover many technologies. Even by sci-fi standards this show is unbelievable.

This is what's really bothering me:

[SPOILER ALERT]

If Monroe is so keen on finding out how to turn the power back on, then why on earth did his militia kill Ben Matheson?!?

There should be a "Bring back Ben Matheson ALIVE no matter what the cost!" kind of order to the militia.

ben wanted to go with the militia peacefully until his son intervened, then the soldier panicked, accidentally shot ben instead of the son.
