Last July 5, my brother and I bought our very first LED TVs. My main concern is -- if the bleeding showed up in less than a month (15 days, to be exact), what would it look like in a year, or two years (duration of warranty)? Would that affect my TV viewing then? I have taken pictures of the bleeding so you could actually see what I see. (same Picture Mode)

Here is the picture taken last July 20. As you can see, the bleeding can only be seen on the four corners of the screen.

Here is the picture just now (July 24). Noticeably, the bleeding is starting to build up as well on the upper and lower portions of the screen, NOT only on the four corners.

These units are actually for replacement already, and we are just waiting for stocks to come in. If that would be the case, we would be forced to have them replaced again, but it would probably be to another brand/model. That being said, siguro I would be needing your opinions mga master kung anong brand/model ang better replacements.

I admire your insight, sir!  ::) I think you may have skipped the part where I mentioned what my main concern is. Hence, you weren't able to see that I was asking what it would be like in a year...or two years time.  ;D Thanks!

For some tv models (edge lit LED) that's normal. If you are particular on the bleeding, I noticed those high end Samsung models have better uniformity. Or you can consider plasma.

my 11-month old LS5700 also has some slight bleeding but only noticeable pag widescreen movies. That's the only time na mapapansin but it's not as bad as what yosiboi posted.

Ganun din unit ko, sir! Kaso nga less than a month pa lang, "dinatnan" na  ;D

They even have a brochure for it (E38), pero nawala ko na yata 'yung brochure sayang!

yeah but normal lang yung bleeding talaga pag edge lit. even top tier tvs still suffer from bleeding basta edge-lit. yung thread na nilink mo was about a plasma tv yata that went byebye bigla. I doubt if the backlight bleeding will cause your tv to die ng biglaan.

best option for tipid sa kuryente (pero sobrang mahal ng presyo) - full-array backlight with local dimming.
best option if kuryente is not an issue- plasma (usually ranging ang wattage from 200+ to 300+)

Nope Sir my post is about my edge lit LED na nag backlight bleeding na rin (kung normal ba ito), also bought July 6 lang (MY VIEW brand). Then after a week BOOM lumala na yung bleedings. You & Sir Philip has some insights also sa thread ko, I was saying that I regret buying LED na sana plasma na lang binili ko since power consumption is ok naman sa akin kung may peace of mind naman ako hehe.

Since same kami ng dilemma ni Sir TS, kaya sana suggestion ko is merge the thread with mine, since I posted mine earlier with the same problem.

assuming lang di na pwede ibalik ang tv for replacement, only option is to watch with lights on para di halata yung backlight bleeding?

When you say LOCAL DIMMING, ito ba yung feature ng Hi-End Samsung na MICRO-DIMMING???? hmmmm... :)

To the TS:

Don't get me wrong, hehe!!! Normal talaga yan sa LED tv or LCD tv for that matter. Parang the less you spend the more the bleeding...

As for me, as long as acceptable naman sya for normal viewing, will not be bothered. Ngayon kung dumating ang time na maputla na talaga ang picture no matter what the setting, then Houston, we have a problem. ;D

Plasma also has its CONs. :)

Unless you watch almost always in dark room then it will be better for you. Malakas kasi reflection nito parang CRT tv. At mas wide ang viewing angle nya. Actually, yan din sana kukunin ko, pero I'm glad I went for a LED tv since sa room ko nilagay at kaharap nya ay isang dambuhalang bintana! ;D

i read that having a bias lighting helps daw. i keep forgetting to try it kasi wala akong mahanap dito. I haven't had time to check hardware stores yet though.

IMHO, wala sa size, nasa model... I believe its the technology employed on higher end models that makes the difference.

Here a pic nung 1st week nung LED ko, di pa gaano visible bleedings dito. Will post pic tomorrow nung bleedings na nya ngayon.
