Ultra LED. It's just Hisense's term for their improved local dimming VA tech.

It is a bit far from QLED models in performance based on numbers. It probably won't hold a candle against OLED.

OLED is still king of blackness. QLED seems to be leading in terms of brightness.

QLED is also leading in color space. It covers 108 percent of DCI-P3, while the best OLEDs cover 96 percent of it.

Wait for 3rd party verification.

Until then see http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/picture-quality/wide-color-gamut-rec-709-dci-p3-rec-2020

I'd choose perfect blackness over color coverage. haha! :D

The dark blacks are of course easier to appreciate, especially since not all material take advantage of the saturation extremes in DCI-P3. OLED TVs will still improve, and I won't be surprised if LG delivers a panel with wider coverage this year or next year. The best mobile AMOLED panels already deliver past 100% (the Note 7 gets 105% coverage in Adaptive mode).

I'm guessing what's holding LG back is potential panel life. They are still depending on RGBW to have the white subpixels carry some of the load. If they switch to RGB and ramp up intensity, the performance would likely improve in the expense of usable life.

Bad example, it's 98% guaranteed to blow up. ;)

With 2000 nits, such a wide gamut and good calibration, I am assuming that it'd be really good.

Here's a Gamut measurement from the current LG OLED TVs. It is an excellent result and much better than the 2015 model, though it it is still a hair weak on reds and greens to cover the entire DCI - P3 space:

I won't be surprised if LG's 2017 TV panels would get even better.

The Note 7 covered all the colors in Adaptive mode (currently the best-measuring consumer OLED panel color-wise):

so in layman's term:
-- OLED -- best in pitch darkness
               -- better in color reproduction
               -- good in peak brightness

-- QLED -- good in pitch darkness
               -- better in color reproduction
               -- best in peak brightness

B6, itodo mo VIVID at max brightness and contrast, sobra maliwanag na eh..

is QLED a marketing gimmick to introduce something new with LED?  edge-lit parin naman.  kung full-array pang top of the line >70incher siguro..

=))

There is still something to it. LG's OLED TV panels depend on a white subpixel to reach maximum intensity. It cannot produce very intense colors at high brightness because of this (a lot of that intensity is coming from the white subpixel rather than the RGB subpixels). Fortunately, most non-HDR videos are clipped this way anyway to produce realistic midtone contrast.

HDR allows for extreme intensity with no need to clip color information. Right now most HDR videos still do it to look good on lesser TVs, but it surely is possible to make content that is optimized for the available gamut at extreme intensity.

BOE Display China, one of the biggest display panel manufacturers in China, has teamed up with manufacturer Skyworth to introduce an indigenously produced OLED TV.

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/11/chinese-manufacturers-start-making-oled-tvs/

Skyworth hopes to sell 200,000 OLED TVs by the end of March 2017. Skyworth said its main problem with those OLEDs is that LG Display cannot supply them with enough panels, especially the 65" ones - so now it seems Skyworth found its answer with BOE Display.

kamusta mga co-owners of LG B6p? our units are still king of the OLED pack, matatapos na yung 1 year to pay ko and i have to say that my purchase was very well worth it! kaya yung mga nagkukuli kuli pa kung bibili o nde, bili na baka maubos na mga units. may mga bagong lalabas pero the difference is not groundbreaking. before my thinking was "hindi na muna ako bibili kasi bababa pa ang price, then pagbaba ng price magiging hindi na muna ako bibili kasi may lalabas na bago" the cycle never ends and i have stayed at that thinking, wala pako ineenjoy na oled sa ngayon :)
