Happy New Year. Been awhile since I posted and after 9 years the upgrade bug has bitten me once more. Ive set my sights on OLED for a good 3 years being an owner of a panasonic plasma. I love good black levels ergo I believe that ONLY OLED TECH (to date) can be at par or overtake plasma tech. Has anybody here took the painstaking job to look into the alleged BLACK CRUSH issue on OLEDs? I would appreciate your inputs. Thanks!

I have been a plasma owner too for so long ( pioneer kuros) and still keeping them but for 1080p and none hdr content i would not see any reason to upgrade , .So i bought an oled for 4k ,hdr , bigger screen and lower heat in the room    In real world content I dont see the black crush bothering me . and in fact the recent models have mostly cured them if the reviews are to be believed , what i did see and only by using test patterns are the banding effect at  near black levels . I only  saw the banding  when i turned off all the lights, but in my normal viewing i have never seen them really

88" 8K OLED with HDMI 2.1 should exceed $15,000.

Looking forward to prices dropping to below $2,500 by 2026 when actual 8K content is on Prime Video, Netflix, Youtube and 8K Blu-ray. Hopefully by then unlimited 1Gbps will be below 2,900/month.

LG will bring AirPlay 2 & HomeKit support to its 2019 TVs
. Enabling AirPlay support will allow Mac and iPhone users to easily play music, videos, or mirror your device’s screen.

As Apple puts it, “with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, you can use Siri on your iPhone to send a video to your TV. Better yet, ask Siri to play a specific show in a specific room.” LG’s TVs will also support Apple HomeKit, just like Vizio and Samsung have confirmed for their respective TVs.

Cheaper to buy here sans the headache of shipping, import duties and after sales support.

If you want to see a commercial installation of a MicroLED display then visit Apple Store in IconSiam mall. It just opened last November. After seeing MicroLED I am sold on the technology for my next TV in 2026.

A quick warranty story, I love a good deal, but with my latest experience and the fact that OLED is relatively new, I would think long and hard about plunging anything above 50k for a "grey" unit.

I have been using my 65C6 for more than a year without issue, I always thought that if there was any defect or "lemony-ness" to any piece of tech it would manifest itself in the first few months or at least before it turns a year old. I was wrong, it developed a thin, grey line out of the blue after 18 months out of nowhere. TV hasn't been moved, smoke free home etc.,

I panicked thinking it was way past warranty but fortunately, turns out LG offers 2 years warranty. Got in touch with them and it was one of the smoothest warranty claims i've done. I waited a month for the panel to arrive since it was out of stock but once it arrived, service was quick and done in an hour.

Anyway my point is, plunking 6 figures or even anything around 60k and above for a TV, when the panel itself is in need of replacement, you're gonna want that warranty.

read his blog.  my only concern is his usage time of 400hrs in 6 months. yet he plays Dota2 & watch movies from both NF & built-in media player...

how do we compute for the average daily usage given these values, is this correct:

ave daily hours = 400 total hrs usage / 6 months age of TV / 30 days per month?

Very low if you compare it to the RTINGS.COM tests. haha Their tests are in the 5thousand+++ hours already.

But they are subjecting the tv to extreme conditions though unlike sa link I posted which probably reflects an average person's usage?

Be careful lang when buying the LG Oled 6 series (B6, C6, etc) kasi according to some user feedbacks I read, etong batch ang medyo prone sa image retention / burn in issues... I'd rather save more pa to get B8 or C8 series.

Another thing to consider here is that the 2019 models come with HDMI 2.1.

Port may be there but the rest of the TV may not match to take advantage of the port. Also there are very few if any sources to take advantage of the port.

It is good that HDMI 2.1 is being sold in 2019 so that they work out any bugs or short falls they may not have foreseen.

all this ROLED,8k, VRR, HFR and HDMI 2.1, features are rubbish they should have done anything for those OLED's shortcomings well such as such burn-in, limited luminance and vertical banding.
