Topic: Samsung 51F5000/51H5000 - Bang for the Buck Full HD Plasma

Planning to buy Samsung plasma asap. 51h500 siguro. kaso medyo hesitant ako sa  mga nabasa ko sa net na "internal crack" ng samsung panel. Ganon ba talaga ka nipis o ka fragile yung panel ng samsung plasma.

Hindi na siguro ngayon sir. 
 
Anong year model ang nabasa mong Sammy plasma internal cracks?  Nag web search kasi ako dati, puro year model 2011 and earlier ang lumalabas.  Wala sa model 2012 and newer.

How much is the 51H5000 currently? Gonna purchase it via straight payment. According kay Abensons Sta Lucia , 39997 less 7300 daw kaya nila. Pero saw one post 32k ? Is that confirmed?

Anyway,  we already bought 51H5000 at abenson market market. two days ago..  ok na ok yung Pq, medyo di lang ako satisfied sa liwanag nya, yung snow kasi parang kulay gray.. ganon ba talaga o kailangan pa i calibrate? o baka naman nasanay lang ako sa led tv.

Sa bright room, mas maganda talaga ang LED.  Pero sa dark room, plasma ang mas maganda.

My TV stopped working after almost a year (11 months and 2 weeks). We're using it 3 hours, 4x a week.
The power light is blinking, but there is no display when it is turned on.

Samsung replaced the panel, and a couple of ICs/Boards... and is now working again.

Kudos for Samsung's fast response, but i think they should've replaced the entire TV because they already replaced a lot of parts anyways. They also mentioned that this TV has 2 years warranty, and not 1.

Sa bright room, mas maganda talaga ang LED.  Pero sa dark room, plasma ang mas maganda.
 

true! ang ganda din ng viewing angles ng plasma. no need for fancy IPS tech.

Really happy I found this thread. Was eyeing the 51H4500/51H4900 at SM Appliances last Saturday due to their low price (sub-30k) but was disappointed with the resolution - 720p on a 51" panel really showed the pixels even at a distance. Because of this I dejectedly decided to go for an edge-lit LED panel either from Samsung or Sony, and at a smaller size of 40". Wasn't really looking for a feature-rich TV, just wanted one with excellent picture quality and color rendition.

Buti nalang I didn't jump the gun and decided to trawl the net for local TV reviews - which is when I found this thread. I didn't know Samsung had a full HD PDP available locally since it was only SM Appliances that I looked at in passing, but boy was I enthused about it. Long story short it took me just overnight to decide on getting a 51H5000 since I really wanted a plasma over an edge-lit LED unit - it's either plasma or OLED (but the price difference is worlds apart). Called Abenson Greenhills Sunday morning, it was mine (along with a Samsung 28H4100) for the regular price of Php39,997 in the afternoon. I could've gotten it for only 32k but the 28" LED TV for 8k was a steal, and a good upgrade for my in-law's CRT oldie.

Really, really happy. Also inputted the calibration settings from AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/forum/167-plasma-flat-panel-displays/1503133-samsung-pn51f5300-what-little-gem-i1pro-calibration-results-inside-33.html - North American counterpart). It's staggeringly good for the price - color rendition is excellent, black levels are really deep, and motion blur is nonexistent and comparable to gaming monitors a step below the best. Another relative wanted to buy one almost immediately upon finding out its price! And this is a guy who has screens in every room of his house (nothing less than 40") with varying technologies (I dunno he collects?) like his rear-projection TV from the 90s to his pride and joy - a 78" curved Samsung Series 9.

Really really happy. I've no need for 3D or any of that Smart TV crap that gets obsolete almost immediately with nonexistent support so the 51H5000 really fits my needs. It sucks though that connectivity was skimped on (to cut costs) but dang, nothing comes close in terms of raw performance (except probably for OLED which costs an arm, a leg, and probably one of my balls).

If you can afford one, get it. I mean it. And thanks to the community for providing a lot of info on pricing, good deals, and tech info which really helped get the ball rolling for me to get the 2014 version of the 51F5000.

One question though, which I'm not sure if it has been answered before in this thread - is the pixel layout pentile on the 51H5000, or a regular RGB stripe?

Don't worry.  AFAIK, Samsung has never made a PenTile plasma TV smaller than 60 inches.

In 2012, the PenTile panel was on the 60E550; in 2013, it was the 60F5000, 60F5300 and 60F5500; in 2014, it's the 64H5000.

That's good to know - I almost lost sleep due to this but wasn't really sure because I've only seen pentile displays on Samsung mobile phones, and I don't have one to compare with the screen. Pero grabe ganda talaga ng plasma na ito for how much I paid for it. Thanks for the info!

After a long month of wait & 8 hours drive to General Santos City, Finally had my first Plasma TV, the 51H500. Im still in awe for the PQ of this unit, a total upgrade from a 14" laptop!
Though im no expert in TV's, im really impressed with crisp & detailed picture, & almost lifelike colors it produces..thats  from a ripped Bluray pa, how much more if from a blu ray Disk!
And an ambient light is tolerable, doesn't reflect much on the screen, but its really at its best on a dark room..

Hooked in to my system via Laptop>Udac>RegaBrio3>MA RX1, instant mini Theater. it was way better than JBL SB200 that i auditioned. Naka tipid pa! i almost bought the JBL SB200.

went to avant trinoma yesterday. sales guy said they can give the 51h5000 for 29,997 without the freebie for cash or straight card payment. was tempted to buy one. but am still saving for the f8500. anson's trinoma guy said they can still source it from one of their branches. if the f8500 is no longer available by christmas time, i'll get the h5000. i just hope they still have stocks by then.

Still going strong yung unit though hindi ganong gamit
On average siguro less than 10-hours a week

The TV was finally delivered at 4pm earlier
Unfortunately my Sabre rack mount does not support the 400mm vertical

using the stand temporarily and in the bedroom
malupit nga (I only have a 37-inch 720p 5-yr old Panasonic LCD to compare it to)
still have to try it in very bright environments after I move it to the living room

As for USB playback it can play the following
16GB USB 3 Sandisk Ultra
 1TB USB 2 Western Digital My Passport drive

Plays all I've thrown at it
Now watching Iron Man 3 1080p 12GB file, subtitle working nicely, too

Astig din digital audio out nito puwede magpasa ng DTS, DD and DTS Neo ba yun?
But I need an optical cable to see if it will pass the 5.1 audio to my receiver

Hindi lang ako bilib sa base - plastic yung neck connecting the TV to the stand
Plastic din yung quad legs. Only metal part is the pivot where the neck screws down to.

Glass front pala ito kaya reflective. Very very good light transmission in a dark room
Yun lang masyadong maliwanag para sa akin yung Movie mode so toned it down to 17 in the cell light setting

over all bang for the buck talaga
still have to test it on Cignal dahil tepok na naman yung 2nd box ko sa taas sa tagal na hindi nagamit

not sure sir kung ok pahiga..sa rear seats nde kaya sa sedan..kung front passenger to trunk parang malabo din..pa deliver nyo na lang sir..ung kahon kasi dagdag at least 3-5 inches diagonally or more dahil sa styro sa loob

I visited Avant in Trinoma to look at this 51H5000 and see what the fuzz is about. Ayun umuwi akong 33k poorer. 32k for the tv and 1k for delivery to Bulacan.

If it is coaxial I recommend, FiiO E10k for your headphones..it also has a line out if you want it to connect to your amp or active speakers..
