The gear that I have selected subject to any new additions to manufacturers ranges is :- Screen ?(further research & availability required), projector - Sony VPL-HW45ES, pre/pro - Marantz AV7703, amps - Emotiva XPA 5 & 6 Gen 3. I would have liked to have gone for a laser projector but have decided to keep the costs sensible as I'm upgrading the AV receiver.
A little war & peace but that where I am at the moment. As this post has got a little long I'll start another about the acoustics.

those are good gear choices, OBR! :D

Thought time for an update.
After 3 days repairing the seat riser I found more live termites so have decided to remove all the wood & replace with concrete.
I've strained a wrist so working 1 handed & progress has been a little slow. The seat riser will be completely removed tomorrow & then I'll start on the stage which shouldn't be too bad as it's a lot smaller. My father in law wants as much of the wood that can be saved so making the dismantling a little harder.
Thankfully I have found the termites entry point which wasn't visible until all the carpet had been removed. The floor slab has cracked between the stage & seat riser so 1st job will to repair it & then we'll start the concreting.
Updates to follow.

All the wood framing has now been removed & just the clearing up to do, I will post a couple of pics. As the room is in a state of disrepair I've had a good think about what modifications I should do. I've decided to go 7.1.4 (with a view to 7.2.4 later on) so my wide fronts will become my rear presence speakers. I'm busy designing the bits & pieces I'll need including for the projector install. Xmas is coming so progress will be slow until after the festivities  :D.

Hi Nelson, yep lots of action but all prompted by Mr. Termite so maybe I ought thank him for my impending upgrade   ;) ;D.
I've been without my HT room for over a year now so enough's enough & I've bit the bullet. With my HT room as it is it would be rather silly not to upgrade so lots of work with a view to much relaxing  >:D.

^yes you can simple attach it to existing wall to act as absorbers.but for better overall treatment i still frame this. This is way better than fabric, kind of hard to process lang esp the high density ones.

Time for an update.
Things have been a little slow, my architect has let me down badly & after 3 weeks of chasing finally let me know he couldn't get any labour. I ended up employing a local mason who wants to do the job on his own & he's turned out to be an excellent worker. The crack in the floor slab was dug out, then a coat of cement epoxy & then filled with cement. We've had to leave it for 2 weeks to dry out thoroughly before applying a coat of epoxy sealer to the whole floor. The sealer was applied today, evil stuff, it filled the house with fumes much to everyone's disgust. Tomorrow we start in earnest with the remaking of the stage & seat riser. In the mean time a few pics of what's been happening.

The HT room bare waiting for the crack to be chipped out. The crack is visible as a light brown line on the left side of the 1st pic.

The crack chipped out.

The repair complete waiting for it to dry out.

Hi Nelson,  I'm buying without an audition so it'll be interesting to see if the XPA's are as good as they say they are. My fronts were being driven from a Cambridge Audio combo 840E & 840W so eager to compare with the Marantz/XPA.

Normally based on my experience, A/B compared to class D, the class D sounds leaner but tighter.

Thinking about it the 840W is not a class D, it's an A/B at low power & reverts to class A at high power.
