George my man, nice corners! I should be the one asking you to teach me with upholstery work hahaha. Snce you are usin3"x1" pine, may i suggest you drill holes on the sides for added effect. 1-1/2" holes will do just fine.

Thanks for that Ricky, a bit too late for the holes all the panels are made & hung on the walls. I've decided to make some diffusers to try but that will not be for a week or two, a problem getting the materials to the house.

All panels hung but my pics are crap, the screen has blocked the front lights so my camera is not focusing properly. I will sort the pics I have tomorrow & post along with ones of the gears powered up. I've around 24% acoustic coverage including the corner bass traps so leaves me a lot of leeway for experimenting. Without calibration both movie & audio look/sound good so I'll be doing a calibration tomorrow & post my impressions.

Calibration didn't happen today, made another small panel to cover a junction box under the AC unit (will be hung in the morning) & got my man started on the diffusers. The HT room has now been cleared & is ready to go except for the calibration.
Having just looked at my pics, they're crap, it just proves to me I'd never be a photographer but it'll give you an idea of what the room is looking like now. I wasn't able to get a shot of the rear left but hopefully that might happen with extra light reflected from the screen. I have left the 1st reflection point with no treatment as this is an area of personal preference whether it be reflection, absorption or diffusion. If left reflective you get a more spacial sound & as I've only around 24% coverage it gives me plenty of opportunity for experimentation.

With your gears, even without auto EQ, just delay/distance adjustments only,I'm sure it sounds excellent.

Thanks DTNS, putting off the calibration until I have the diffusers hung. All the timber has been cut so assembly starts on Monday. To start with I'll add 6 & see where that takes me. Sounds pretty good without calibration, the Emotiva's are a bit warmer than the Cambridge Audio which is pretty much what I expected. The room has got the wife's approval, after a few mutterings about the cost she's admitted it's worth the expense.

Newly arrived HIMEDIA Q10 pro fitted with a 6TB hard drive, courtesy of sir Jim at Toys4geeks - a pleasure to deal with you sir Jim.

My helper is having an Easter weekend break (4 days) so the diffusers should be completed & hung by the end of the week so calibration hopefully at the weekend. It'll give me some time to learn how to drive the Q10.

Update :-
The HT room almost fully completed, only 2 outstanding jobs.
1) Get & fit plugs to the holes in the wall that were drilled to apply the termite killing chemical.
2) Fit the lower louvre to hide the aircon unit. It has already been made once & went back to have a fly mesh window fitted so I could use the aircon remote. Unfortunately the company disappeared along with my louvre losing P7K. I have just had another company measure up & waiting for the quote.
In the mean time the diffusers have been completed & hung. I have made them a geometric shape (semicircular) but to work properly they should have been deeper. As the the sound was quite good without them I went more for aesthetics, they will do something to the acoustics so still at the experimental stage. I have done the 1st calibration & to be honest I prefer the sound before I calibrated so I have a little more experimenting to do.
A few pics below.

Thanks Nelson, it's taken a bit of time, well worth it but the pics do not do the room justice. All I have to do now is to get the room sounding how I like it & job done. Then will be the time for much viewing & listening.

You're welcome to visit guys but unfortunately a 1 hour flight from Manila or a much longer ferry trip. The only good thing is I can see Mactan (Cebu) airport from my terrace, around 1.5 kilometers as the crow flies so getting to the house is no problem.

Based on my experience, a few glasses of wine will really help improve the sound. It will also induce you to test your system's capacity to produce sound way above the 85db mark.

YMMV.

That is why wine and film doesn't match. Here's the way it should go:

Beer = movies

Wine = music

See! Its logical!

Yep very logical so I'll rephrase my comment - on wine I'd never get to the end of an album   ;) :)
