A little bit of good news, I've just heard from Panasonic & they're (Panasonic Japan) are going to send replacement boards so the repair can be verified before any payment is made. Unfortunate thing is 2 - 3 months delivery. At least it gives me a little time to make alternative plans.

Update :- While waiting for the screen repair it's given me time to assess what I have done with the HT room. Due to the humidity problem I have decided to replace my acoustic panels. The filling is cellulose fiber, my mistake I did not research & presumed it to be synthetic. On finding some panels have formed a crust under the fabric I researched & found that cellulose fiber is 85% shredded paper & has a high moisture absorbancy. This would account for the panel filling starting to harden under the fabric so to prevent future problems I will redo the acoustics as soon as funds are available. I'm not all together happy with the sound on some BD's but don't know whether it's the acoustic nature of the panels changing due to he hardening of the fiber or I never got it right in the first place. Redoing the panels will kill 2 birds with 1 stone   :( :-[ :'(

You may want to look into the Rockwool. It should not be friendly to moisture and micro organisms. Less propensity to cultivate mold. Go with synthetic covering material too. Panels must be removable so you can air them out regularly.

Next step but expensive are quadratic diffusers made from wood. These things you can wipe down when needed. They do occupy a lot of space so it is not for everybody.

None of these of course fixes bass issues. There is simply not enough room there for meaningful bass treatment.

Thanks for that Gino, existing panels are fixed with Velcro so will probably stick with that. It seems that Fiberglass is difficult to source here so Rockwool is favorite. I may stick with my current bass traps, I'm in the process of making removable covers for them. The unfortunate thing is it's going to be slow progress until I've got the house sorted = got to please the boss   :)

Here is a diffractal diffuser/s that might fit the bill for OBR:

A little change in color theme would easily make this diffuser blend in OBR's room. Actually, the picture consists of 5 pieces.

Thanx Nelson, I'll be looking at the acoustics a bit closer this time, having jumped a bit last time & things are not quite what I expected. I may remove the filling from some of the panels & experiment with placement but it won't be for a little while yet.

just curious, how is your electricity bill? I checked the specs of the 85" Panasonic and noticed that its power consumption is high.

As promised DTNS, my 1st full months bill has come in at P4.33K. We've been using an induction hob for cooking but I will install the gas hob tomorrow so the consumption should go down but will increase with extra usage of the HT room when the screen is repaired  ;D It will take a couple of months to to settle & give me an idea of exact usage. One thing is for sure it's not going to be anywhere near the P22K estimated by VECO.

Obd that cellulose fibers are for agri purposes rather than for acoustic detail. Sorry you had to find out the expensive way. Cant blame you since the article attached to that cellulose fiber is actually intended for another material. Kind of misleading, I just dont know if intentional or an honest mistake by the seller.

Pls dont use removeable covers for your panels with fg/rw inserts. It will just make your life more misearble esp after you removed the fabric.

Hi ricky, I will not be utilising any of the existing panels when I redo the acoustics, there are other reasons for that but not for discussing here. I think cellulose fiber could be used in non humid climates but would be more trial & error when calculating usage. There has been much installation done with FB & RW so starting points can more easily decided.
The only thoughts I had for panel alterations would be to remove the filling from the rear on a few & experiment with repositioning to assess the acoustic change. As the walls already have Velcro attached I could use it to fit non acoustic panels for aesthetic reasons.
Thanx for the advice    :)

Hi Guys it's my mistake, ricky was correct in his post with fg. My finger lost it's way (the 'B' key is just below 'G'), I'll have to reread my posts in future   ::) :-[
