Luke Cage
« on: Nov 08, 2013 at 08:41 AM »
Marvel has partnered with Netflix to produce four 13-episode series featuring its more streetwise heroes: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, in that order. The series will be streamed in 2015 and will culminate with a Defenders mini-series. While it's unclear from the articles, these series will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mike Colter Officially Cast as Marvel’s Luke Cage
December 22, 2014

Marvel Entertainment has confirmed that Mike Colter will play Luke Cage when he debuts in next year’s “Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones.”

“Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage,” said Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. “We’re excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.”

“Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television. “Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in ‘Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones,’ and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”

Colter will star alongside Krysten Ritter in the series for a few episodes before transitioning to his own Netflix series at an undisclosed time. He can be seen currently in the Microsoft Entertainment original series “Halo: Nightfall” as Jameson Locke with previous appearances on “The Good Wife” and “American Horror Story: Coven.”

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

“Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix and is expected to debut in 2015.

Marvel’s Luke Cage Premiere Set for September on Netflix
March 11, 2016

Netflix and Marvel Entertainment have officially announced that everyone’s favorite hero for hire will be making his way to Netflix later this year as Marvel’s Luke Cage will premiere September 30 on the streaming service!

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Mike Colter leads a cast that also includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and the return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, “NCIS: Los Angeles”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner of the anticipated series, Marvel’s Luke Cage. Coker is writing the first two episodes of the series that will premiere everywhere that Netflix is available.

The usual trick of searching for "UHD" or "4K" lists Luke Cage (along with all the other Marvel shows), so I'm assuming it's available.

I'm watching via laptop though, so despite having a 4K screen, I'm only getting 1080p on Microsoft Edge, 720p on Google Chrome.

Have no idea what powers Luke has since I stopped reading comic books in high school. Almost got bored with the pilot until the last part got me interested.

Well there was a Superman vs Gen Zod-like confrontation between Luke and Diamondback which you know who'll win. But judging from the finale I may have to pass next season since the next scenario seems to be overused like Antman or Robocop or Soldier wherein the enemy becomes an improved version of the hero.

Luke Cage has an awesome easter egg to Back to the Future in episode 10, where Misty Knight reads some newspaper files as she searches for information about Luke's past. One of the articles is about Doc Brown, who invented the “Thrust Capacitor,” which could be the key to time travel. "We currently don't have the resources to make this type of travel possible, but one day, when plutonium is available at every corner drugstore, perhaps that day, we could achieve it," Brown is quoted as saying. The article also goes on to say that Brown's experiments in 1985 were controversial because they involved "a teenage boy named Mac Fly from Mill Valley." LOL
