This is what I have noticed too. I came to a conclusion that his room has gone thru a long audio journey with each item there selected and hand picked from years (or even decades ;D) of listening experience. I also knew the MAs won the battle seeing the pair of Maggies in one corner semi-retired and gathering dust  :D

I've witnessed JoeyGS's audio journey, from LSA1 to ViennaAcoustic to Living Voice to Maggies+dualSubs, and al i can say is that Mark Audio dual driver project beats them all! Congratulations, Joey! Cheers! 8) 8)

Sir Joey, when I was driving on my way home that night I realized that the Alpair 10P in FHXL would be perfect for your room!

First, your current speaker placement is a meter or 2 away from the walls (a requirement for FHs) and second; you like tilting the speakers a bit with good results (a natural in FHs design).

Just saying  >:D

I was surprised when you brought along your 10p and I was glad you did.  I think the 10p is a good size for my room  8) O0

It was a good session indeed, sana more to come hehehe

Sir Joey & I were discussing na sana makabisita din si Sir JojoD nang marinig naman nya ang kanyang masterpieces. That room is a perfect showroom for JDLabs  8)

What you don't hear the brain perceives as presence. That is the foundation of imaging. Good session you guys had. Well, can't really expect less for such top quality research and work.

The FHXL might be a pain to build (unless just order the flatpack 8)) .....  The pensil is quite sufficient for simplification and build economy.  Another thing .... Bob Brine's MLTL is highly regarded for the Alpair 10p too and the plans are paypal away ... ^-^ plus as discussed, just mail the oval panel O0

As for the tilting, you may have noticed that most of the finished products are with wooden bases and probably with spikes (plus they use couches that are low) which puts the drivers at proper ear level. In my case my seat is regular height which makes the driver lower and makes the singers image dwarfed.  The tilting fixes it and makes the images lifelike.

Oo nga eh.

Plus ....  we should fire up Jojo's butt to build his own MA speaker pair.  He has the tools pa nga eh.  He has the driver just sitting in the box .... sayang and he is not getting any younger to enjoy Mark's creation!

Tama that you played with tilt. It has a profound effect just like toe-in. You tweak cone sound dispersion. You also tweak reflected sound.

Kung may all-axis motorized stand lang sana, we can tune sound like we do treble and bass.

May remote din? ..... and also from you phones and tablets?  >:D  This would simplify room tuning/set-up!

Panalo if ever yung request na "pls ship the oval panel" hahaha

My vote still goes to the FHXL, if only I have the room where it can sing beautifully. Even Mark was astounded by how low it can go & the DDR the 10P can produce in the FHXL, interchangeable pa ang 10P & 10.3M sa FHXL enclosure. Ihanap na lang ng kaya gumawa nung box eg; Anthony  :)

Pensils & Bob Brines M10A10 are both MLTLs though different in designs pero parang same flavor ng sound while FH is quarter wave horn and a sexy one aesthetically if I may say so  ;)

But whatever enclosure you choose we know you won't be disappointed  8)

I knew someone is bound to ask this question  :)

Let's start with soundstaging, to simply put it the MAs produce a large soundstage, you will hear layers upon layers of sound and quite a vivid imaging. First: the Vocalist, she/he was always in the middle with the other members in places where they should be; in Diana Krall's Love Scenes, first track - "All or Nothing", a pronounced 14 second bass line intro coming from the sides, recessed, then when Diana Krall sang the first line, the first word seemed to come out like a shout but for me it's more like a purposeful introduction to the power of her voice. And throughout, the vocalist was in complete control & ever so slightly just giving way to band members' solos.

The drums, what is considered as the most "impactful" instrument in a band. I chose Toto's tracks Rosanna & Africa to demonstrate this. In the track "Africa" there's a drum roll right before the chorus, I clearly heard & felt how the drummer (Keith Carlock or was it Jeff Porcaro?) navigated his sticks from the snares - high tom - middle tom - floor tom - then to the cymbals and the MAs presented it from left side of the room to the right, then the ride+crash cymbals on each side at the same time.

Guitar & bass; for this Sir Ed wanted to try "Moonlight Serenade" a jazz duet by bass player Ray Brown & guitarist Laurindo Almeida. He described Almeida's playing here as "precise" in a swiss watch like manner. And true to that, I didn't hear a miscalculation or a finger accidentally touching any of the fret bars. Ray Brown's breathtaking solos filled the room with a strong presence, full, rich and lots of bottom end.

To sum it up, I realized that there wasn't anything missing in the sound, if not for a bit more low end for more impact. But throughout the whole session it was there, the bass is not too loose & not too tight but coherent. Forget about tweeters of any kind, the sparkle in the Alpair 10P's highs covers frequencies well beyond what a human ear can hear but in a finessed and in a not "screechy" manner.

Hope this helps, guys  :)

Your observation validates mine! :-)......

@joeygs..

Hope thwre would be another session soon?.....another run of cables ia ready for handover! :)

I wonder if these can implemented using MA drivers:

A guy started tinkering around already with the CHR 70.3.

They call this the LXmini, designed by Seigfried Linkwitz  and here is the website link:  http://www.linkwitzlab.com/LXmini/Introduction.htm

You can even buy a kit at Madisound........

May digital input ang mini dsp. Pwede yata diretso ikabit sa board ang source eh. Di ko lang kabisado pero you can check their site.

Ung minidsp 2x4 ang ginamit dito kasi 2-way lang. Kakaibang design nya. Parang omnidirectional.

In case matuloy ka bumili ng minidsp and you will be building an enclosure for it, consider another case for me. Pagawan ko narin  sa iyo ng maayos na enclosure ang sa akin.

Yan ok, direct digital to digital connection and conversion na, wala na external DAC needed.

Sure thing Larry.
