Toshiba 50L2300
« on: Dec 07, 2013 at 10:03 AM »
Hello fellow PDVD people. I am very curious on the performance on this particular Tosh but there is no topic regarding this. This is on sale at Robinsons Appliance for 36k. I was considering the Samsung 46F5000 or the Sony 46r452a but at this price and at 50 inches, i thought this Tosh need a serious look. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

bought the 50 inch version 2 days ago.  im satisfied with the overall performance.  may reklamo lang ako,   when the TV is plugged off the power source for a few hours,  pagka ON mo,  back to factory reset ulit and a dialog box pops out the configure the TV all over again.

Nice to hear you are satisfied with the Tosh. I may ask what can you say about the black level? Some reviews from other sites say that it is on the grayish side. Maybe some experts here can help about these issue. Thank you.

hi,  black levels are not as black as it should be.   but im not much that too critical sa mga ganun.  my other LED has severe backlight bleeding pero i dont mind, i look at the movie not on those things.    the factors i weighed in why i bought this unit are the following:

1.  location of the TV set -  very bright living room, so LED talaga dapat, plasma was ruled out.
2.  price -   1k-6k difference between generic, china branded LED.  cost wise this is a good deal for a good old japanese brand now with 2 yrs warranty.

Have you tried any calibration tools? Might spell the difference. Thanks!

i also bought this unit about more than a week ago, at first yes medyo grayish yung black levels nya, siguro kasi bago. when i saw this kasi in abenson maganda yung black levels nya compared to the other led's on sale.

a week passed maganda na yung color at blacks nya and i was able to calibrate it properly according to my taste, tested it with several 1080p movies and it looks good especially at its price point. it is a good buy.

and maganda din performance nito sa cable, may signal booster something din to although i rarely watch SD channels na din. hehe. and maganda din sound nito for a tv with very thin bezel.

Hi sir! Thank you for sharing your experience. However, do you have the same issue of the settings reverting back to factory default as stated by ehmarzo?

Nice to know that your unit is working well now. I am pretty much close on deciding on getting the Tosh. :) Maybe their eyes were closed when calibrating the tv. ;D Perhaps you and other owners can post their settings here for reference.

For now, i only use the Autoview settings.   wala parin ako makita matinong calibration settings sa internet.   i hope meron mga experts dito na mag review at mag share ng calibration settings for this unit.  medyo nag lie low na mga tv critics and experts dito wala na ako nakikita masyado review.

Per catalog it has AMR 100 (amr 100hz), after sampling some movies with fast scenes(rush 2013) mukhang meron naman siya...yata :P

Imho very hard to tell ha..my old tv(skyworth 42 led) had 120hz feature that can be on/off...it even had demo mode wherein screen was split, half 60hz half 120hz

:)

On a side note, extra challenge mag timpla ng display settings dito ha...adjust one setting(bright, backlight, etc), you have to go through the menu all over again :p

as far as my eyes can tell wala. my previous tv na sony 60hz lang. ganun din nakikita ko sa motion ng toshiba na to. nakalagay sa manual may football mode yun daw yung pag 100mhz, pero ganun pa rin naman wala naman difference. lol

well it doesnt bother me since i prefer 60hz pag nanunuod. di ko gusto yung "soap opera" effect ng (trumotion, motionflow etc..)

no regrets in getting this unit.
- analog audio out (RCA L/R)  which is a plus talaga, madali ihook up sa sound system.  i think it has an optical audio out, wala lang ako paggagamitan pero parang meron nga.
- super responsive ng remote,
- maganda color hindi sabog

kumusta ba after sales service ng Toshiba? or general reliability?

My parents are thinking of getting this TV because of its good price, but I'm just a bit concerned because they'll be bringing it to the province in Visayas pa.

My Toshiba 46" LCD just conked out 2 days ago. I bought it nov 2012 so barely 1 year pa lang. Unfortunately, Toshiba's warranty is only 1 year =(. Had it checked by the technician and told me culprit is the mainboard. To have it repaired 8k to have it replaced estimated amount is 15k. Learned my lesson to buy TVs with at least 2 years warranty and have it extended for another year for peace of mind.

sakin 2 years(bought last feb)...they were probably offering 1 yr warranty only when you got your unit last 2012

Thats good.

Just a couple of questions on your unit:

1.Experience ko lang with my Tosh unit was yung Cable channels hindi aligned dun sa channel line up ng cable provider namin. For example, ABS and GMA sa Tosh nasa channel 24 and 26 na dapat nasa channels 10 and 12.

Ganyan din ba sayo or they have improved it?
