I just posted this question in another forum, sa Mountain Bike forum  ;D, apparently may expensive cables din doon  >:D  I just don't know if the topic is as HOT in the bike world as compared to the audio world

The cables I am talking about is the cables that controls the brake and gears.

Since this is a mechanical part, I'd unequivocally say YES, definitely NO VOODOO here.

Just make sure it meets minimum specs for high bitrate shifting and transient loads during braking.  ;D

meron ba? I mean most brakes are hydro's and I haven't seen any branded after market shifter cables. I'm probably looking at the recreational biking standpoint. Baka sa TT or other racing bikes where weight can be a factor.

Meron, but not as insanely price as our audio cables, one brand I saw was Jagwire. I also think most brakes are still connected by cables as hydros are costly.

In my experience, if your audio set-up is hi-rez (not necessarily expensive) enough, one can hear the difference between cables.

If you use a high-end cable (both in quality and price) in a low-rez or average system, you may not hear the difference with other cables.

Practically everybody on the racing scene in mtb is on hydraulic brakes.

As for changing gears, you only have 2 choices, mechanical or electronic (uber expensive). There are some wireless prototypes but only the sponsored riders have these. Again, this is just for mountain biking.

I'm also into MTB. But when it comes to brake cables (hydros excluded), I choose Shimano cables, p65 in my LBS(local bike shop). Cheap yet very durable.

Cables matter especially when the system is resolute enough to reveal tiny differences. Otherwise, dont bother coz it may not be the problem point to start with.

Each cable can be different, but more expensive doesn’t mean “better,” just “different.”

"The difference in sound quality between speaker cables is one of the most subtle differences of any change you could cause in your system."
