That was a powerful and unsettling episode...which I watched past midnight, dammit---had to sleep with the lights and TV on, heh

Eva Green deserves an Emmy for this series, nothing less.

the theories about Ethan Chandler is that he was some kind of Army Chaplain who did his share of bad things to the Native Americans, who in turn cursed him with lycanthropy. Totoo kaya? We'll see in next week's season finale.

It was a good finale, with a rather abrupt ending, maybe because they've been given the go-signal for a second season.

One thing that bothered me was that Caliban lived inside the Grand Guignol for what seems to be months, and he didn't even notice that there were vampires inside?

Best line this episode, from Ethan: "Monkey? No. No monkey."

LOL. If they follow the "Bride of Frankenstein" story, you'll know that the Bride will reject the Monster. And if Brona regains her memories, then this will create all sorts of problems for Victor and Ethan.

Early Sunday morning, the Penny Dreadful YouTube account posted the full first episode of Penny Dreadful Season 2, a few weeks ahead of its May 3rd premiere.

I'm not sure if the available downloads have edits in them.

3rd episode was really good, with a Vanessa Ives origin story of sorts, featuring the great Patti Lupone making a guest appearance. The flashback also provides a possible solution to Vanessa's current dilemma with the evil witches who are out to get her; can't wait to see how this is resolved.

Just watched the finale...while I was glad how they resolved some plot points, I wasn't happy with the way other characters' arcs ended, but then again this is a Victorian show after all, so I guess they're saving it for next season.

And this snippet from a post-finale interview with John Logan reveals what's in store for next season:

Logan: Yes. The central idea of the show, as I mentioned, is the character of Vanessa Ives. And the cosmology around her, the world around her, expanded a lot this season. And that part about the fallen angel, or the fallen angel's brother, will definitely play a part next season.

So, looking forward to Dracula as the Big Bad for Season 3

That was a good season premiere, with everyone now separated and scattered, while Vanessa is all alone in London as Dracula makes his presence felt.
