Pioneer S-99Twin - Need your help / suggestions
« on: Apr 01, 2014 at 11:12 PM »
Good Day to all... :D

I have recently acquired a Pioneer S-99t in a not so mint condition. From my research this typical model has drivers from TAD (Technical Audio Devices), are made of big and heavy Alnico magnets. Two woofers are used per speaker hence the Twin in the model name. Each speaker weighs around 35kgs, I'm not sure if you'll agree with me but they sound great but of course we all know that it's a very subjective matter. I was originally looking for a bookshelf, something that is not that big or take up too much space but when I heard these speakers I grab them almost immediately even though they're not in a great shape.

Now my question is are they worth restoring or should I sell them instead? I'll appreciate any feedbacks from any of our fellow Pdvd member. Thank you in advance.

Here are the actual pictures of the said unit:

Anywas sa cosmetics lang naman ang issues and not with the sound it reproduces.

I don't see any major problem with the cosmetics, pre. Pledge lang ang katapat nyan.  :)

I agree with the suggestions of keeping the speakers. Wala rin ako nakita na pangit sa speakers, based sa pics. Baka konting pledge lang ang katapat :D

I'll definitely keep them, I almost gave them away for a meager sum but then again nanghinayang ako. I won't consider them rare but I'm sure I'll never find another one. The nearest model I saw being sold at the other site by a fellow pdvd member is a Pioneer S-55Twin which is something like this:

How about linseed oil pre? Would it enhance their looks?

nice speakers. if you plan to sell let me know:))

I'm playing them right now and I can truly say that they are a wonderful sounding speakers, a change of heart I guess but if and when I'll ever change my mind I'll inform you sir.

Find another place for your amp. it should look nicer, maybe sound better pa....
Linseed oil is best for oil paintings and leather, not very ideal for wood (especially ones with finish)...

Thanks you sir for the suggestions, anyway I'm currently on the lookout for an audio rack. The one that I have can only carry light amps and cd players. I'm considering a flexy rack.

Consider mo wood rack, tingin ko mas babagay sa speakers, sahig at silya mo.
