Destiny Cable Picture Quality
« on: Apr 22, 2014 at 09:00 AM »
Hello everyone - For those with Destiny cable analog provision, kamusta ang quality niya when connected to a plasma tv? Tolerable naman ba or sobrang labo or pixelated na?

Wala kasi option sa condo ko, Destiny lang ang cable available analog pa hehe.

Thanks

Uy nasa condo ka na pala. Dla ko fuds?   ;D ;D ;D

Try playing a DVD (or any 480p source) without upscaling to your TV so you'll get an idea how analog cable will look like.

Your lucky, I was trying to have Destiny install as well at our condo, but they said they can't install higher than third floor. Anyone here who has Destiny in a floor higher than third and which did not pass through the internal cable connection of the condo?

Back to topic, in have friends who are transferring already from Destiny to Sky. They say Destiny has lousy PQ. Thing is, wifey's channels are all with Destiny at their cheapest monthly rate compared to other companies.

Have the Analog type... PQ depends on the channel... Definitely SD quality only but with the channels we like... it is worth the 550per month... and I can connect more than 1 TV.

Though, strictly not legal, unless your paying for the additional TV connections, this is age of analog.

With digital, it's a one-box, one-tv setup kinda thing.

Yes. At least when I had destiny cable Internet before, I simply used a splitter and, voila, cable TV . Though the reverse is not applocable.

It's normal. Just like sky before they introduced their digibox. But their CS is bad takes you forever to get in touch with them. case point: When I moved in to an apartment 3 years ago I was planning out where to route the cable to the bedroom. I had an extra long cable from the previous apartment so i routed it para hindi kalat. nakita ko yung connector ng destiny. So kinabit ko na and all and was planning to call them on the weekday para i activate. but when i turned on the tv to my surprise merong signal. So i still called to report and apply for my line. an hour passed no one answers. tried the next 2 days same result. never tried again. So i have free cable ever since.
That awkward moment when I'm drunk and you're still ugly.

Update on this, my analog cable was installed yesterday. Props to them, half day processing and installation.

Picture quality is okay on most channels but there are a few channels that's blurry or pixelated. Best thing is NBA premium tv is free in my location.

That's just fine and normal. IMHO, masmaganda ang plasma for standard cable viewing.

May additional sa digital sir. Like ANC and 2 or 3 more channels. Not sure what those are.

I have destiny analog. PQ quality is nothing great. Since I upgraded to a 4k TV,  I'm planning to switch to Skycable hd 549. But then I found out that destiny has gone digital also. So I'm thinking whether to stick with destiny and just upgrade to digital so it's gonna be easier. No more cancellation no more changing of wires and all. Or cancel it and just totally switch to sky. I've seen sky hd and they are good. I just haven't seen destiny hd. Are they good in terms of picture quality and channel line up? My priority is the quality of picture. If not then sky nalang ako.

Sir the analog option will end this december. They are discontinuing the analog and convert all to digital before end of the year. FYI

Is the PQ quality of destiny digital at par with sky cable digital?

Bro, we have destiny digital at home and it would be similar to sky digital in terms of PQ. I can say this because they're using the same line and Destiny is now only a matter of channel allocation. In fact my Destiny digital cable (SD) uses the same line as my Sky broadband. They just installed a splitter to connect the TV and the modem.

What would matter is SD vs HD. I haven't seen Destiny's HD line-up but with our Destiny SD subscription, our digibox is already HD and we get all of Sky's HD and SD channels when they unlock all channels.

In short, Destiny digital is now just a plan (or subset) under Sky.

^Good luck bro.
I was eyeing Sky's Super Save Plan 1699 which has 8Mbps + dual def 299 but I'm still under lock-in period with Destiny but my wife doesn't want to pay for pre-termination fee + installation fee of plan 1699. We settled with our existing Destiny digital SD and just had Sky broadband 3Mbps installed. In effect, we pay the same rate but got lower broadband bandwidth (8Mbps vs 3Mbps is a big difference).
