Current system April 2016




August 2014 version of my home stereo with Sutherland PHD



From listening position





I would like to share the stereo systems that I have assembled and enjoyed over the past decade.

This was 2006. My son was a one-year old.

Had the Magnepan MG12 and Cambridge CDP (from accastil), AI Modulus 2B and Lovan racks (from Rene Rivo) and B&K Sonata amp (from noctilux). Bass traps and cable lifters from Adoy/Solidtubes.

By 2007, some changes have occurred.

Acquired a Vincent valve CDP (from jopet) and an Audio Research Classic 60 (from hein).

Decided to go analog in 2008 with the acquisition of a VPI Scout (from George M.)


Then, the thrill of trying out new devices reigned over me.

Got a new Audio Research SP16 (from Lito Gelano) and pair of rosewood Aurum Cantus V6F (from Audio Amplified). Used Anti-cable speaker wires (from Gerry Kaimo) and Xindak line conditioner.

Full frontal

This was what made up my home stereo system before I needed to dispose them as my family was preparing to migrate. Thank God I did! A few months after, our home in Cainta was severely damaged by Ondoy. Imagine what would have happened.

Uy Jun kaw pala yan. Iba user ID mo sa wired state. Are you still working in SG?

It was early 2006 when I started to build a Home Theather system. I got myself a Harman Kardon 235 and set of Infinity speakers from the JBL dealer in SM Megamall and a DALI Concept subwoofer from AA in Greenbelt.



After about four months, I realized I was not really an HT fan and that I wanted better audio reproduction. Add the fact that I had amassed over a thousand audio CDs by this time. So I traded my Infinity speakers for a pair of Celestion 300 (with WS member Donlovejoy)


Then traded the HK receiver for an integrated amplifier


Thank you audi for helping me remember about the MF amp :). This one could really get hot.

The MF amp did not last long with me as I was fascinated to go into tube amps. My first one was a Cayin MT-35


Then I tried out these Filipino creations


An earlier version of Musika pre-amp (loaned by Esaudio/Atty Patrick)

After more than 3 years of being away from the hobby, I got into it again in mid-2013. Had a good offer from a dealer and this equipment was what started it off.


I wanted to focus on records so I looked for an analog source. This came along...

Thorens TD126 MK 2 with an SME 3009 tonearm.

Was not satisfied with small Paradigm monitors. So decided to get one of my dream speakers.


And so I renewed my interest in the hobby with this bare setup


Soon, the reliable Secondo was replaced by this heavyweight.

Yes Rony. Sinimulan ko mangolekta ng original Impulse first pressings. Those released either by AM-PAR or ABC-Paramount. I think nasa 50+ albums na ko :)
