Rondo will join the Lakers this summer...

As a Lakers fan, I don't know whether I should be happy or terrified about this possibility. I'm leaning towards the latter, especially if it's a max contract (which I think, Rondo no longer deserves).

In the meantime, I am almost afraid that the Lakers will lose their pick. 3 wins in a row now. Why lessen the odds of keeping the pick by continuing to win???? This is senseless.

^48. Massive heart attack.

I remember him from the early 90's Knicks team with Ewing, Oakley,Starks etc...that was the best Knicks basketball I've seen.

RIP Anthony Mason.

Woah! RIP Anthony Mason. He used to be considered as one of the buffest dudes in the NBA. It's tragic that even if you are physically fit, you can't avoid a heart failure like that.

Watched the Rockets-Cavs game. Not a fan of either team, but it was great to watch. I am grudgingly recognizing how good Harden is. Wish he wasn't on the same team as Dwight. Hahaha. Great scoring and passing. He gets my vote for MVP.

And the funny thing about this ...... all of these clowns ran the triangle offense at one time or another.

Like many basketball legends had said, the triangle only works if you have superstar players.

Steve Kerr played under Phil Jackson (and Popovich), but as a coach, he hardly runs any triangle and gives much leeway to Curry to run the offense - Curry is unleashed and is now a bonafide MVP candidate ....... it's Pop's system which Kerr obviously embraced.

Now, Phil Jackson is getting exposed by the day ...... probably his only accomplishment with the KNICKS is getting cap space and losing enough that he's guaranteed a high draft pick. His latest disciple, Fisher is running the triangle and is proving to be an epic failure.

It might also be the reason why Phil Jackson is somewhat famous for never taking teams that are in "transition" or upstarts.  Yun gusto niya yun ready made teams na.  Another reason why his assistants aren't as successful is Phil is not the inventor of the triangle.  He himself is a disciple as well.

What goes down on the record books is still the number of times he coached a team to win the gold. Not the number of assistants that became good in the same field. He had no control whatsoever on that so why take it against the guy.

Indeed, Phil Jackson has NEVER coached an upstart team - even after multiple huge offers from other teams, during the post-Bulls years e.g. NJ NETS

Lookit here ..... back when the LAKERS snagged Nash & Howard to form a big three with Kobe , Phil Jackson "suddenly" became very interested and was willing to coach the LAKERS again. Unfortunate for him that Buss picked D' Antoni over him.

More than a year later, he cited health reasons, when he was unwilling to coach a KNICKS team (even in a weak Eastern Conference) and just wanted to be the team president. Kita mo nga naman.  ;)

That's been the biggest knock on him ...... even from his coaching counterparts e.g. Larry Brown

Like I've posted many times here, Phil Jackson is a good coach, preaches good defense and player accountability - but he's far from being the greatest coach in basketball.

What goes down on the record books is still the number of times he coached a team to win the gold. Not the number of assistants that became good in the same field. He had no control whatsoever on that so why take it against the guy.

But stats, rings and records dont always tell the complete story - if it does, then Robert Horry, is a greater player than Michael Jordan ....... or a guy with rings, like Joel Anthony, being greater than those with zero rings, like Malone, Barkley, Ewing, etc.

IMO a head coach entails many functions; among others, you're a tactician, motivator & a teacher as well.

Phil Jackson has had many contemporaries, who had also coached in the NBA for a looooong time ...... yet most of these contemporaries, like Riley, Popovich, Brown, etc has spawned very many successful head coaches, bearing the same or similar coaching styles and have won championships, contended or at the very least, had winning records.

Phil Jackson also had his share longtime assistants who went on to coach their own teams - yet not one of them turned out a winning record and not one of them showed a working triangle offense ....... anyone can watch a handful of KNICKS games and see the clumsy mess that D. Fisher calls his triangle offense.

There's a quote, "if you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it" ...... it's very likely that Phil Jackson shared his with his many assistants - yet no positive results from any of them (count D.Fisher and Lindsey Hunter on that failure tree as well).

One of Phil's strengths is coaching amidst turmoil.  He's put Rodman and Artest in line.  Coached through O'Neal-Bryant.  Must be something in this Zen thing...

So what if none of his former assistants turn out to be winners. His job as a coach back then was to coach a team and not to teach assistants. He still holds the record for the coach with most number of titles in NBA history, they can't argue with that so they look at his assistants. Now, his Knicks job will determine if he has more than just coaching skills.

Kind of like Bill Russell being the best player in NBA history because he holds the record with 11 titles.  His job is to win titles and not score in bunches.  They can't argue with that so they look at his PPG ang shooting %.  ;D

Hindi ba nakakapagtaka na wala man lang isang assistant coach ni PhilJax na naging contender or at the very least man, may winning record ?

Lahat sobrang bokya eh ...... isama pa sa listahan si Derek Fisher & Lindsey Hunter.
