UE pulverizing State U with the usual Pumaren system w/c is full court pressing all the way.
The Warriors responding well to the new system of Derek.
Most likely its gona be UE vs DLSU in this season's finals.
Now can the Pumarens, who brought DLSU to numerous championhips, spoil the Archer's dream of a back to back UAAP title?

Just a bit of trivia. The Pumarens, particularly Manong Derrick and Coach Dindo, were trained in the Spurs Camp in terms of coaching.  They are employing a Spurs-inspired system.  The same system that gave Coach Dindo a sweep of the eliminations by the UE Warriors ( only to be spoiled by DLSU in the Finals ).  It would be a good rematch indeed.  But this early, DLSU looks mighty.

No doubt the Archers are huge and mighty and the only way to offset DLSU's height advantage is to play fast and Derek's system of pressure defense is perfect.
AVO is much improved and huge but UE has an import in Mammie to match up.

Seems DLSU is a bit vulnerable to fast teams. Still leading at halftime, though.

Wow what a win by FEU on heads up play by Tolomia. Kudos to my friend and ex office mate Coach Nash Racela.

Stunning victory indeed.

Happy to watch the games in HD with no commercial interruptions. I wonder if Balls HD will cover the entire season or just the opening?

So much for big expectations = big disappointment

La Salle can't be too complacent with people tagging them as heavy favorites. Most teams are still eager to get that crown and they will be back for revenge. The way I saw earlier is how they are tentative and no team work.

Anyway it's just the 1st game and we cant judge them in that loss to FEU.
What's disappointing was many expect them to go undefeated this season.

I don't know if it's wishful thinking on my part but I sort of get the feeling that Juno would have been perfectly happy if they lost. The way he was subbing and giving minutes to rooks as well as sitting Perkins for an extended period tells me he wasn't too concerned with winning as he was with figuring out good combinations and exposure for the rookies.

He probably didn't want the pressure of that undefeated season (look what happened to the volleyball team) and he knew it was more important to expose weakness now and finish strong like last year than the other way around (like FEU).

Or maybe I'm just wishing it were so. ;D

But he had more time to prepare this year compared to last year. One would think he would have figured out his combinations and plays by now. And is he really going to concentrate on low post plays?

I also found his subbing & play calling weird. Nawala yung momentum from first quarter after pinasok yung mga rooks. Vosotros was taking too much time hogging the ball instead of moving it around while Jeron was trying too hard to score. I know it's early but I'm sensing a leadership struggle between these 2.

Tolomia & Belo are players to watch this year for FEU.

Good point. As Tim Cone said, pogi points lang ang eliminations sweep. What's important is the championship.

Ateneo looks good defensively. Another thing they are running the high pick and roll for Newsome and Ravena.
For sure this Ateneo team will not go far becoz of lack of Big Men.

The brothers Ravena are both playing now.

It seems Adamson has the tallest coaching staff in Philippine basketball.

Finally got to see what the buzz is all about. I thought it was just the white suit and tie when I saw last saturday, what a mockery. They all looked like Riddlers at Araneta.

Yes, ditch the green clown suit and start coaching seriously now.

A darker shade of green would probably be better.

http://www.spin.ph/sports/basketball/special-reports/is-la-salle-coaches-new-wardrobe-boss-dandings-idea-a-pahiyang-or-both-sauler-speaks-v02

Utos daw ni Boss Danding na mag-suot that way ....... most likely inspired by Tim Cone's long-sleeves and tie requirements for his entire coaching staff.

When Boss Danding say's jump ...... everyone around him asks "how high?"  ;D

By the way, I recall a news article not too long ago, that some NCAA schools are considering to jump into the UAAP ...... or is it the other way around?

Aside from DLSU and UE, which teams will join them in the Final 4? Ateneo, FEU or NU?
