At halftime Ateneo leads 39-37, Von Pessumal already with 12.

Tolentino ( former Red Cubs ) also playing like he's no rookie for Ateneo.  Magaling yang batang yan.

Ravena simply killed DLSU with his 3s.

Powerhouse DLSU now about to be down 0-2.  And people were talking about a sweep at the start of the tournament.

ADMU also had better rotation and execution than their arch rival.

Coach putting a rookie Julian Sargent on Ravena did not work.

Sobrang lakas nang line-up, pero talo pa din ....... parang PETRON nang PBA.

Sino ba ang nag-buo nang team na ito?  ;)

Seriously, it's way too early in the season ...... other teams have lineups that the junior squads of other teams can beat. DLSU will still come on strong by Final 4.

Awesome offensive display by the Blue Eagles. Other than the first 6 minutes, they did not look like underdogs at all.

DLSU's mistake was not crashing the boards when they could. Their top rebounder was Teng.

DLSU's next opponent is NU (Jul23).  So I guess they'll finally win this one.  Then they go up against UE on the 27th.  Yun magandang laban ulit.

Congrats to the Blue Eagles.  Sweet victory when you beat an arch rival.

Being an alumnus, Ateneo ako.  Wifey was for DLSU because she knows Kib Montalbo both coming from the same High School.  Of course she got the ribbing of her life when Ravena simply schooled Kib.

Don't speak so soon, NU are definitely not pushovers. They routed UST last week.

Agree w/ you sir.  Last year it was almost the same for DLSU. They'll peak at the right time. My prediction is 4-0 after this defeat.

Was surprised that Juno switched to zone defense when ADMU was hot. AVO didn't have his usual dominating game.

But what really won it for ADMU was Pessumal and Gotladera. Kiefer will always score being the King Eagle. Silently, Nico Elorde was also effective at the point. Incidentally both Fonso and Nico are ex-Archers

Still...ANIMO LA SALLE!

The only knock on his game is his defense.

wouldn't count them out. too early in the season and i think they'll peak at the right time. last season they were 0-2 or 3-4 in the first round.

Just pleasantly happy and surprised with the win by Ateneo! One Big fight!

Yep. did not play to their strengths like in the FEU game. they should have pounded it in and funnel all the ball through AVO, andrada and torres, Perkins is the lone bright star for the frontline. a gem of a player. mismatch. has range and good defense.

Ponso would have been an atenean freshman as he was personally being recruited by Norman black but stayed with DLSU since he was promised playing time. Like nico elorde who was personally approached by Coach Norman. As the stockpiling of talent by DLSU continued and the direction the team management were going, Nico realized it first and moved to Ateneo. it was the year after that Ponso realized that he would be still relegated to the bench.

Despite 0-2 DLSU remains the team to beat this season.
Actually the adversity is good for them this early into the season and what matters is they peak at the right time just like last year when they got their momentum in the 2nd round and into the finals.

Yep. when they get their groove on they'd be a juggernaut team. not properly utilized lang from what i can see. they have a backcourt that can be exploited by other teams whereas they have a great frontline that noboby can beat. should have gone to AVO, Torres, Andrada, etc. down low more. get the other team in foul trouble and punish them in the shaded lane.

That's a big blow. DLSU is shallow at the guard position.

That's a big blow. DLSU is shallow at the guard position.

This is probably why DLSU will lose games this season. Their guards are not the slasher type of guards. The opposing teams could simply clog the shaded lane making life difficult for AVO and Norbert Torres. Should the ball be kicked out to the guards, the opposing teams would just close out on them. DLSU were more successful with Perkins and Teng driving in for the lay-up or dropping the ball to their big men in their first two games.

Ayan na nga ba sinasabi eh, why would you field in 14 players while there are at least 3-4 rookies on your roster! To me it's over confidence on DLSU's part, they don't have a deep bench yet and relying too much on their star players with a mix of unknown rookies. I think they forgot players are prone to injuries too and if unlucky they could be out for the season. They didn't play their cards right this season.

I just wish them back to back but I don't think that's not going to happen.

Norbert Torres and AVO are inconsistent during games even last season.
what?! are you talkin' to me!!!
