need help finding a good 60 inch LED tv
« on: Jul 02, 2014 at 07:17 AM »
Hi All. Been lurking here for some time now. I'm looking for a TV around 60" to be used for PS4 and HD movies. One of my biggest concerns will be display lag when it comes to gaming.

So far my candidates are

LG 60LB5820 - 60k (2014)
LG 60LB6500 - 80k (2014, webOS)
Sharp 60LE650M - 60k (seems like a 2013 model)

I've seen very little information around the internet regarding these TV sets. Was wondering if you guys can suggest which one to choose, or maybe suggest another model.

Also, to those people with 3D TV's. How often do you guys use the 3D feature? Is it something I can live without?

I am also in the market for that size. Would you be kind enough to share where you got those prices? FYI I think sharp model is just 120 hz. It may not be fast enough for gaming. I could be wrong tho. Thanks.

@meateater

If your prices are accurate, I would choose the LG worth P60k. I have good experience owning LG TVs.

For 3D, I have it now, was excited to use it when bought new. After that, never used them again. So for me, it's nice to have, but not really a must to have.

@bote

120Hz is already good. Actually, most of the other ones claiming higher than 120Hz are more marketing gimmicks. Am wondering what you mean with just 120Hz?

If you are into gaming and watch a lot of sports, you will appreciate the higher refrefresh rate.

I mean for gaming it is best to have a tv with higher refresh rates. Might experience motion problem if tv has about only 120 hz rate. Thanks.

120hz is moot for gaming. it will only increase input lag. It is best to disable it usually thru game mode, whats important for gaming is response time of the panel itself. and 120hz is not the measure of said response time. or how fast the pixels on the tv change color.

All are gameable midlevel TVs. Higher end TVs generally do not game as well as the extra video processing that they do on the image increases input lag (except on ones that have a useful PC or Game mode). 4K TVs have the worst input lag as they typically have the most sophisticated processing (to cleanly upscale low res sources).

For the TVs on your list, the LG 60LB6500 is known to introduce very little delay when set to PC mode (among the best for its size).
