Best Bang for Buck 60inch
« on: Jul 21, 2014 at 07:18 PM »
Am looking for best bang for buck 60-incher LED/LCD/Plasma TV. I don't really need Smart function nor 3D.

So far, I have seen:
Toshiba 58L2300VP P63k+
Sharp 60LE630M - P57k+
Sharp 60LE650M - P59k+
LG 60LB6500 - P80k+

Can consider bigger screen as long as price is not more than P80k budget. If with Smart function or 3D and within P80k budget, still ok.

Have you seen better prices than these above? Which model and where? Thanks.

Sa Ansons cash and carry branch yan. Talk to one of the sellers from olx and they can get you that price.

I've been reading and researching on 60 inchers as well. For me the best bang for buck will be the 60LB5820 since I too don't require SMART and 3D. The main difference in features with the LB6500 will be WebOS, HEVC, and a faster response time for gaming (you need to set it to PC mode and use HDMI connection 1).

The Sharp 650m is a 2013 model, so-so reviews. I didn't find much info on the 630m though. Maybe it has less features compared to the 650m?

Thanks bro! What's the best price you've seen so far for the 60LB5820? 100/120Hz na rin ba ito?

The 60 inch is MCI 400 which is 100hz. The ones less than 60 inches are 50hz I believe. Lowest I've seen was 61k-ish. When are you planning to buy yours? I might get mine this Friday afternoon. Maybe if we buy at the same time we can get a better deal? Also are you planning to mount yours? or just use a TV rack?

You can go ahead, probably towards end of the year pa ko bibili. I plan to just use a TV rack for better flexibility. Thanks for the info. :)

After some research, I finally bought the 60LB5820 yesterday from Ansons Cash and Carry. Also bought a sigma TV rack to mount the TV on. Tested it with 1080p movies and PQ is good. Colors will need adjusting / calibration and the screen is a tiny bit reflective. Didn't see any dead pixels on the test unit, hope mine doesn't have any.

I got it at 61.5k cash, he also helped me get a discount on the TV rack. It was valued at 16k but na lower sa 13.5k cash. However I decided to pay for the rack via card nalang, so the discount was only 800 php.

The TV rack I got is the sigma8099. Not sure if I got a good deal out of the TV rack. The seller's name is Paolo from OLX.

I did some minor calibration settings to correct the color. I also lowered the brightness and added more contrast.
My findings for the 60LB5820 are as follows:

The TV has a very good viewing angle.
  • Color rendition by default is a bit off, so you will need to tweak it to your liking.
  • You can see a tiny bit of motion blur if you really try to find it. But if you are watching movies normally then it shouldn't bother you.
  • I turned off the tru-motion stuff because it was annoying for me.
  • SMART function is kinda slow-ish. I was expecting navigation / input / selection to be smooth but it isn't. Maybe its fast for the WebOS ones.
  • Blacks are not really black, they are grayish. Best to view in a dark room.
  • Screen is a bit reflective, could be annoying to some people.
  • Sound quality is so-so. I would purchase a soundbar at the very least so I can get better sound quality.
  • The unit I got had 0 dead pixels. Which is good.

If you need a 60 incher without 3D / SMART then this is for you. People normally only use the smart function during the first month anyways, then forget about it soon after. So I would recommend this TV.
