How's the Performance of the F8500 TV with the regular cable service. I'm not planning to upgrade to digital pa eh. just want to know how it will fare with the regular cable subscription? Tnx.

The unit is in my office, where the TV is hardly used, which is why I have no cable TV service there.

However, I do have regular over-the-air broadcast TV there, and all I can say is that I have never seen free TV broadcast look as good as it does on this TV.  And if free TV looks good, then cable TV should also look as good.

Let's wait for sir revskie to give us his first-hand observations about standard cable TV on this model.

Hi berryjuice!  2.5K (tax and shipping included)! -  Where exactly did you buy from the US?   It's still about 3.1K in Amazon plus tax pa; 2.3K for the 60 incher.  Thanks!

One of my biggest electronic regrets - I didn't get the 65VT60 for 2.1K on Cyber Monday 2013.  It was still 2.3-2.5K when I left for vacation in Dec.  Told myself I'd get it in Mar.   Pagbalik ko ng Jan ay 5K na!

dito sa australia may pailan ilang units pa ng F8500 at VT60, yung iba nakakauha ng 55" units for 1.5k so around 65k pesos yan.
The handsomest and the happiest ;b

I inquired about the 51f8500 tv but unfortunately out of stock daw, so what abensons is offering me is their 2014 model na 51H8500 plasma tv for P 39,xxx.00 with free 28" tv. Pero pag search ko wala nun model 51h8500 .
Question ko po, is this a better version of the 51F8500 model?  Ano po difference ng 2 tv eto?  Is this a good deal for P 39k ? Tnx.

At that price I think you're just being offered the 51H5000. Not their top of the line 8500 model. You can check out the related thread here: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,183100.1110.html The newer H5000 is being discussed near the end.

Definitely not as good as the 8500 but a pretty good TV all around.

Sir sardaukar is correct.

For 2014, Samsung released the H plasma series 4 (720p) and series 5 (1080p); but retained 2013's F plasma series 8 (highest-end 1080p).

Therefore, what they have for 2014's series 8 plasma is still the F8500 from 2013.  There is no such thing as an "H8500" plasma.

Abenson was referring to the 51H5000, probably an honest mistake on the sales clerk's part.

The 51H5000 should be good.  I used to have an E550 (2012 series 5, with Smart & 3D), and I was already happy with the performance, considering that the newer F5000 and H5000 reportedly have better picture quality.

If you really want an F8500, try Anson's Makati. P72,199 cash, with free Samsung Blu-ray 3D HT-in-a-box.

==================================

Question ko po, is this a better version of the 51F8500 model?

No, it is not.

H5000 is series "5" (1080p), model "000" (no smart, no 3D).

F8500 is series "8" (highest-end 1080p), model "500" (with Smart and 3D).

Ano po difference ng 2 tv eto?

Major difference is that the F8500 has a very high-end plasma panel, with very large subpixels that made it the brightest plasma TV in the world, while still having the darkest black levels of any Samsung plasma ever made.  The H5000 has a regular 1080p panel, but it's still very good.

Other differences are minor, such as an external anti-reflective filter; 3D; full Smart functions with camera, touchpad remote and quad-core processor for the F8500.

Is this a good deal for P 39k ? Tnx.

Yes, the lower-end H5000 is a good deal for P39K plus free LED TV.  They say it's only P32K without the free TV.

May headphone jack ba itong TV? Thinking of putting a wireless headphone for nightime viewing.  Pero parang wala ata.

Try Anson's Makati, yung biggest store nila, in front of Landmark.

May nag offer sa akin ng 60k for the f8500 do you think mahal pa to considering na it is a demo unit?

That's a fair price for a demo unit.  P50k to P60k siguro puwede na, depende sa condition.

The first 51F8500 I bought was from SM megamall, at P51,960.  Brand new daw, but it turned out that it was actually a demo unit, so I returned it and got a refund.  OK lang, seemed like an honest mistake on their part.

Hindi ko lang talaga napagtiyagaan kasi may serious IR (image retention) from the Samsung logos on the demo mode.  Service hours = 2,920 hours.

Screen Fit is grayed out if the source video resolution is 480p or lower.
Screen Fit is available if the source video resolution is 720p or higher.

I do hava a problem , yung 64f8500 may 1 horizonal faint bonding during snow scenes or light blue scenes just above the middle of the screen . What do you think , do i need to replace it? No dead or stuck pixels whatsoever . Iniisip ko pag pinalitan ko pa baka mas mapunta sa akin is pangit na unit na may stuck or dead pixel. Any inputs mga sir?

So sorry to hear about it.  That's a known defect on some units:

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/167-plasma-flat-panel-displays/1472672-please-vote-do-you-have-faint-horizontal-band-samsung-f8500-plasma-series.html

There's one theory that it's caused by imperfect application of the screen filter.  Machine rollers applying the filter on the glass leave a slight horizontal mark.

From foreign forum posts, it looks like it happens only on the 64 incher.  The bigger the screen, the harder it is to apply the filter perfectly.

That's why I don't like filters.  And that's what happens when gear is commoditized --- too many users without a dark-room home theater complain about reflections, reflections, reflections, and the manufacturer attaches filters to keep the buyers happy, even if those filters are actually more trouble than they're worth.

Sir if i where you are you going to replace it ? Normal cable tv viewing i do not notice it pero if there are light scenes dun ko lang nakikita .

Yes, I would ask for a replacement.

Sir yung sayo ba wala talagang pinkish tint on white background?

Di kaya sa vid ang problem and not the panel.

I decided to run the episode sa LCD TV ko and ayun meron din, so sa video pala. Nakahinga ako ng maluwag

Wala talaga sir.
