Hi Guys I'm planning to get a new TV by October or November. All around TV sana but has to be good in gaming for the incoming PS4 purchase. No need for Smart features I decided just to buy a NMT with wifi which will save me 10-15k.

Can you please recommend brand/model and it's price?

Thank you in advance

Devant 55GL510 I think you can get for P36k+.
120Hz na.

Other brands (Smasung,LG,Sony) would be about double that price na for the same size and 120Hz.

For PS4 gaming, 60Hz TVs usually do better. PS4s are not able to run beyond 60Hz (and only connect via HDMI 1.4); the additional processing for motion interpolation may look pretty but it adds input lag. Some TVs allow you to disable the interpolation by switching to "game mode" however.

How much are you looking at spending?

You might want to check out the 2014 "H" plasmas from Samsung (the 51 inch versions).  They're actually pretty good.

Im a bit iffy sa plasmas. Esp with some static displays or huds some games would have. Image burn waiting to happen.

Sony or sammy leds would be my choice. Most models have game mode and low input lag. I also would get a 120hz model to avoid motion blur in fast paced scenes in both games and movies. Totally agree in turning off motion interpolation and always playing with game mode on.

I have a 2013 plasma and game consoles. No image burn at all. ;)

I play mostly fighting games and Gran Turismo.

avoid buying generic type brands. although they have made names for themselves, their after sales support will always be in question. if i'm buying anything above 10k, i would want to make sure they can help me out after 2 years...or hell even after a couple of months. there's nothing more depressing than seeing expensive paper weights lying around the house.

dagdag ko nadin.. 120hz.. is not suited for gaming.. dadami ang frame rate pero... interpolation lang.. to make it smooth.. but magiging delay ang feedback ng controls kaya lagi ka madedead pag naka on ang 120hz... reason for delay is the processing to make it 120hz..
careful sa devant.. may nagpost dito... its 120hz cant be turned off.. so.. it cant be used for games...

40k on branded 50" is doable.. but.. hard on 55"...

if you really want a branded 55".. check out sir elim's unit
sir stagea.. wow.. ok din yan a.. tcl... kahit hindi topnotch brand.. i still consider tcl somewhat branded? hehe

Is TCL a better brand than Devant when it comes to quality and after sales? What about Skyworth?

Devants are often rebranded Skyworths, so they're usually similar in performance.

Though not a measure of quality, TCL is a huge TV maker. It sells more TVs than any Japanese maker at the moment.

I do not own any of their products so I have not tried their after-sales support. They work with the same servicers as established brands so I assume the service availability would be about the same, the main problem may be repair parts supply (especially after the warranty period).

Proven support is part of what elevates the brand value of established makers. It's one of the things that a buyer has to assess if it's worth paying for.

Haier Philippines is the one beside Diamond Motor Valle Verde right? Sila din ba naghahandle ng Devant?

No problem, sir AC. Haier and Sanyo Appliances are handled together, afaik (since they have been the same company for the past couple of years).

As per sir Vic, Skyworth units daw ang binebenta ng Devant so baka sila ang magkasama ng distro?

When I had my 46" Toshiba serviced at home, the person suggested that Haier has good aftersales. I do not know kung bayad ng Haier pero hindi naman siguro. Sabi nya kasi he had experience na palit unit daw agad yung Haier kapag may lemon units.

Any TCL owners here, do you have any feedback on its quality? If my budget will not be enough for an LG, I might just go TCL. In the next 3 months, my goal is to get a 50-55" LED and a PS4. My budget combined is 65k max.

Sharp 60" units sometimes sell for less than 58k. That might be worth a look if you can postpone the PS4.

im very satisfied with devants after sales. i only asked them to check the panel of my 55" but when they saw that its already broken (2 horizontal and 1 vertical lines) they replaced it with a new panel free of charge!  home service and it only took them less than an hour! btw my unit is already 8months old.
