In general which one will give better details/warmth....KT88 or EL34 tubes? I'm listening to mostly Jazz & Pops.

I'm eyeing the LA-34 (within budget) but it has no KT88. The next model up is CS-55A which accommodates both KT88 & EL34 tubes. Appreciate any feedback/comments. Tnx

KT88 will give more output power compared to EL34, but based from my experience, EL34 will give a warmer and sweet sound

This depends on the output transformer, if configured for both, I doubt there will be a difference in power, but definitely there is a difference in sound. As for whats better, that's up to your subjective preference.

Generally - 6550/kt88 have less mid range bloom than el34/6ca7, but then again tubes on different circuits respond differently, so there really is no definite answer. Black art or witchcraft, whatever it is, tube rolling is addictive, satisfying or annoying. hehehe

Haha poison...good to hear you prefer EL34 due to its warmer & sweeter sound. In this case the LA-34 should be sufficient na.
