Been researching for a good overhead speakers for Dolby Atmos application.
Any members who already jumped to the Dolby Atmos set up?
What overhead speakers are you using, in-ceiling? Direct radiating?

Some members of other AV forums recommend the Goldenear Invisa HTR-7000 but these are kind of expensive and not available locally.
I have also been reading that B&W in-ceiling speakers particularly the CCM 600 series are very good because of its wide dispersion.

Also the placement (location, toe in, etc) is very critical...

Hopefully we could share experiences and in-sights here :)

I made provisions for wires and in ceiling speakers for the new HT room I am currently building. 2 pairs in case I go for 4 speakers.  Since I have an all PSB set up, I am considering CW180R, roughly US$600 a pair.

Nice...
Are you planning for 9.2.4 set up?
I'm just going for 9.1.2 which is the max config for Marantz av7702 pre/pro :)

I usually recommend saving up for an in-ceiling speaker of the same brand and same tweeter design as your main speakers if possible . Also in-ceiling speakers with directional tweeters is a plus. For b&w ccm600 series is good while for jbl spc6cii is highly recommended. Both available locally.

Also MAs maganda same brand ng speakers para hindi chopsuey ang labas, sub Lang ang pwede maiba.

maganda yung B&W CCM 362 na gamit ng Toyama sa showroom nila. pero kung same brand/ tweeter/ driver, either GoldenEar Invisa or HTR7000 na.  :)

Mukhang malabo nang maglabas ng add-on module ang Atmos for those receivers that are not Atmos capable.

I was tempted to get the Def Tech A60 to add to the present set up.  I just opted to wait till the DTS equivalent of Atmos, including the compatible hardware, are finalized

Hello,

New in the forum and just saw this thread.

I jumped in the Dolby Atmos thingy because I just got an Onkyo TX NR 838.

To cut the long story short, I got a pair of Polk RTI A1's thinking it was small being the smallest in the RTI series and when it arrived, low and behold, it was a full sized book shelf.

I tried looking for brackets that could be wall mounted and make the A1's point down. from a 60 degree angle.

Due to the A1's size, I ultimately decided just to wall mount parallel to the ceiling.

It works like a charm! I am running 5.1.2 up mixed.

Front Stage is LSIM 705 Polk
Center LSIM 704 Polk
FXI A4 Surrounds Polk
RTI A1 Atmos Height Polk

Hope this helps

Just installed the Supersat 3 as overhead speakers...
Very good overhead effects especially when playing Dolby Atmos demo disc...
So far so good, I just need to play around with the downfiring angle of the speakers :)

Marantz SR7009 showing the "Atmos" thing :)

Ganda sir! Congrats!

Thanks sir Lance.
Actually I like what I am hearing with the Atmos format.
I can't wait for the Marantz AV7702 and use my external power amps and hopefully hear far better results.

*I haven't ran Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 yet and the SQ is very good already ^-^
