HDMI Cable issues
« on: Feb 25, 2015 at 11:19 PM »
Gears:

50" LED TV
PS3 with external hard drive
S800 media player with external hard drive
DVD player
Yamaha 573 7.2 AVR

Connections:

TV is connected to AVR's HDMI out
Console, media player and DVD player are connected to AVR's HDMI in

Issue:

TV says no signal given the above setting. However, when I change my HDMI cable from TV to AVR, the connection works. So, I thought its the HDMI cable. Then, I try to connect the PS3 directly to the TV using the same HDMI cable, voila, it works. Tried the same with the DVD player and the media player, works like a charm. But it doesnt work with the same cable used in the original configuration.

Possible scenarios:

Faulty HDMI cable? But why does it work when connected directly from tv to any of my other devices?

Faulty AVR? But why does it work if I change the HDMI cable?

Baka loose or hindi masyado snug fit yung cable sa AVR pero sa PS3 sakto?

Hmm, that's a possible issue. On another note, do HDMI cables have compatibility issues, or it should be plug and play?

I don't think so, its either, it works or it doesn't.

In case of different HDMI versions, there are just features that won't work but the original spec'd feature should work (e.g. video)

Sir egzbuen, did you find a solution to this issue? I have a similar problem which I still haven't found the solution for. I get audio signal from my avr HDMI out but the TV says no signal for the video.

Sorry for not updating this thread.

Yup, solved it by buying new HDMI cables.

For some reason, the brand new HDMI cable I bought worked that way.

Anyway, bought new ones from Anya, monoprice brand, works like a charm.

I have an HDMI issue din with sky digibox and Panasonic 42 inches tv...

I have two pana tv. One was purchased in the US one is purchsed here(almost same model, US version lang yung isa. May konting diff the features). Originally the local pana is being used for cable viewing. I have no issues with it connected to the sky digi box. I Sold it a few weeks ago and transferred my US pana TV sa cable viewing.

Eto issue.

Connected the sky digibox  to Pana using same cable connected to old pana. May video pero walang sound. Connected ps3, 2 nmt(egreat and pch200) and laptop using same cable to pana and no issue. May video and may sound.

Connected the sky digi box to a smaller philips US tv using same cable.. No issue

Walang problema kahit anong device kabit ko sa pana, yung digi box lang ang laging walang sound pero may video. Kabit ko digi box sa ibang tv device using same cable.. No issue din.

Compatibility issue kaya?

I think madali talaga magloko ang HDMI cables no? I've experienced several times na nagloloko HDMI cable kahit secure naman firmly.

give it up to bad quality of something in the chain. i have a long story about that but anyways, when i upgraded video cards to the current gen, my black out issues at 4k @ 60hz vanished :). before the upgrade, i only have one hdmi cable that would not give me the black out issue. a sabre at that while the audioquest stuff would give me the issue.
