Newbie question.
« on: Apr 09, 2015 at 01:58 PM »
Hey guys,

Newbie here in the home theater audio scene and gusto ko sanang iupgrade yung cheap speakers ko that I got for free when I bought my LCD TV.

Let’s say I have a budget of 20k, anong speakers (front, rear and center) ang mairerecommend nyo?

Thank you and more power to this site.

Madami sa marketplace natin sir. But you also have to consider the amplifier you are using in buying your speakers. Baka hindi kayang i-drive ng amplifier ang mabili mong speakers.

20k for a whole system will be a challenge. I suggest you build your system slowly if budget is not yet available. Do not settle for mediocre, mas mapapamahal ka lng sa huli.

kung ok lang sa iyo locally made, try visiting A-Audio showroom in paranaque, meron siya set for HT, i think with 20K budget makakakuha ka na ng LRC pag sinuwerte baka may surround na din yun.

Titus or Philippians, I think i saw one in MP selling his floorstanding Philippians for 10K then pagawa ka na lang ng center kay anthony. those model is good for HT and Music.

I second the motion. In the long run, magsisisi ka, kung gusto mo agad ng buong system. Why not find a good bookshelf speakers muna then add paunti unti. I had this problem before with Audioengine A5. Powered speakers sya. Audiophile na din kahit papano but then syemre iba pa din ang passive speakers with AV receiver or IA. So ayun, nakatabi na lang ang A5 at nakakpanghinayang na nakatabi lang.

That's the plan. Pero if kaya sana na makuha yung speakers since may mga affordable speakers like this Wharfedale speaker that our co member suggested, pwede na din siguro. And really, I don't see myself upgrading my system (at least I hope so) in the near future. Madaming gastusin idn. Haha

So anyway, here's what I have in mind.

1. Onkyo TSXR333
2. Wharfedale 121
3. Wharfedale 101c
4. Wharfedale 10sr

What do you guys think? I know medyo lagpas na sa preferred budget. (Just don't include the receiver in the budget btw). Pero do you guys think okay na to for Gaming, movie and a little bit of music on the side?

It will work, but manage your expectations. Don't get me wrong, wharfs are good speakers, they just dont work well with entry level receivers.

Because of their relatively cheap price, they are usually paired with priced-matched receivers so the result usually dont give them justice.

Thank you for your input. I know that this may all be very subjective but I really appreciate pointing it out. When you say they don't work well, what exactly do you mean by that? Do they sound "cheap"?

What's your LCD TV size? Your speakers system will be used in your living room?

In my room. 32 inch yung LCD TV but I am planning to upgrade that to a 42 inch. Pero audio muna ang focus in the mean time.
