Mr. Robot
« on: Jul 08, 2015 at 08:11 PM »

A vigilante hacker with a social anxiety disorder and working as a cyber security engineer is recruited by a mysterious group of hackers planning to disrupt the multinational conglomerates who are running the world.

Cast includes Rami Malek, Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, Michel Gill, Gloria Reuben, Frankie Shaw, Martin Wallström, Christian Slater

Number of episodes: 10
Network: USA Network
Premiere date: June 24, 2015

I've seen the first two episodes, and they're very well done--intriguing and at times disturbing--this show is the anti-CSI: Cyber. Even before the series aired, Mr. Robot was already renewed for a second season of 10 more episodes.

I like the pilot as I've posted in the recently discovered tv shows but I felt that the intensity in the pilot dropped in the succeeding episodes.

I'm getting a Fight Club vibe from this show, particularly with regards to Christian Slater's character, which I think doesn't really exist except in Elliott's mind...and from the ongoing discussions on the Net about this show, it looks like I'm not the only one.

I've seen the first 3 eps., pretty good so far.

Parang Dexter, pareho yung tone at style ng internal monologue ng main character. Parehong may concept vigilante justice.

Blood Slides=Burned CDs? Mr. Robot=Harry?

Hope the season finishes strong.

That double twist was both surprising and unsettling. Well played, Mr. Robot, well played.

Another great episode; they even used the music of Fight Club to hammer it all in.  8)

Next week, the season finale--press releases state that there's an important scene right after the end credits.

Season 1 finale showing has been postponed due to "similarities" with the tragic shooting of a reporter and cameraman in Virginia yesterday. The finale is set to air on September 2 instead.

Here is USA Network's official statement:

Quote
"The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."

I have a feeling that the gun inside the popcorn maker will play a brutal role in the season finale  ;)

Very good season finale--this series has been a truly unexpected treat for me this year; I rarely get surprised anymore by TV show plotlines, but Mr. Robot delivered on all counts with all the WTF moments.

The scene that prompted USA Network to postpone the finale because it mirrored actual events last week was gruesome indeed. And Tyrell's wife is probably one of the creepiest characters I've seen on TV. There's also a scene right after the end credits that sets the stage for next season ... looking forward to season 2 next year.

I remember when The Deer Hunter was shown in theaters and people were horrified by that Russian roulette scene. This on TV? Shocked the hell out of me.

This is an excellent series! Is it possible that Tyrell is also Elliot?

wtf was that season finale, LOL

Season 2 wasn't as great as Season 1, but it had its share of twists. I'm sticking around.

I actually liked Season 2, although I do agree it's not for everyone.

It needs a bit of willingness and patience from the viewer to let the plot unfold.  But I have to say this series is really well-written and the camera work is just brilliant.

I got a bit lost in the middle of season 3's first episode. I shouldn't have skipped the previews.

Now that was an awesome episode--perhaps the best yet. It's quite a technical achievement as well: a collection of shots brilliantly edited to make it appear like one long continuous take that goes on for more than 40 minutes.  8)
