just got this unit.  I can't seem to stream directly from NAS. i had to used Kodi or Plex.  any software / work around to stream like DNLA? i have a smart TV and it can stream from NAS but sometimes no audio. I tried apple TV, great picture but Plex is struggling. I thought Shield will do the transcoding from the NAS (with PLEX) but it seems the NAS would transcode (it can't do it for big files). I have now setup my Imac to do the transcoding and I will check tonight if its ok. I was up till 2am figuring this thing out. :)

I am not aware if there is plex server for nsatv. Have you tried using es file explorer for nsatv if your NAS can act as a dlna server?

Try the default dlna player/ software of android.  It has a green circle icon.  That's what Im using now.

Just updated my Shield to Android 6.0 Marshmallow ^-^
Now there are additional HDMi output resolution options --- 4K 23.976Hz and 1080p 60Hz

I'm using ES Player by the way to browse the contents of my WD MyCloud Storage connected to my ASUS router and use the Shield's internal video player... plays all my files, even 4K and 1080p with HD-Audio flawlessly ;)

I am not sure. IF Bubblepnp is available for NSATV. It has native dlna support

I got the NSATV when it first came out last July 2015.

Since it came out there have been no problem getting one. I  had one for sale last August 2015.

They had a sale two months ago. It was for sale for 150$. If I am not mistaken it came with a free remote on top of the game pad.

If you really want one. Just get a package forwarding company. I paid around 1.8k for one NSATV for freight fees.

Even with that. I came below 12.5k

No problems connecting a hard drive to shield.  When Android Marshmallow came out, HD can be treated as system storage

Use KODI if you have not used it before. NSATV is a beast. No lag or pauses when navigating or playing movies. Customize it as much as you can with skins.

May netflix na sa pinas. So it should be able to stream netflix videos that  are available sa pinas.

Naging available ang netflix sa pinas last Jan 2016.  Three plans available. 370 Pesos, 460 Pesos at 550 pesos. Affordable na affordable.

As for the other apps. It is not Nvidia shield fault if they do not make available in the Philippines their content.

Oh, didn't know that.  Who offers it?  HD content?  Thanks.

EDIT: Googled and found it.
