OT: Laging piliin yung USD as payment currency sa Amazon kasi mas mababa ang nagiging actual charges sa credit card kumpara sa PHP payment currency.

Eto na ang price delivered to Pinas ng with Controller and Remote. May tax na kasi above 10K with shipping.

I agree with sir as mas mura siya ng P1 to P1.50 per dollar.:)

Guys tanong ulit, Im torn between bunying 256gb flash drive, 120gb ssd and 1tb External hdd since they are almost the same in price range... I will be using it mainly as my Nvidia Shield hard drive extension...

What do you think should I buy? Thanks in advance.

It depends bro sa mga apps na i-download mo.
Ako kasi old shield tv na 16gb. 32gb lang na micro sd lang kasi puro pang play lang ng movies yung apps ko like Archos, SPMC, etc.
If same lang tayo ng pag gagamitan, i suggest na go for the SSD

if you'll store apps and game data into the memory extension, it will run as long as you're using it.  best for SSD, no moving parts and should be more durable and life should be longer

yes, find a USB 3.0 case for that as well.

note that you will be formatting the SSD per Shield's external memory.  so you may not be able to use it elsewhere (except for computer, I think)

It really depends on your needs. Sa akin almost a year ko na gamit yung 32Gb USB 3.0 flash drive ko with my Shield and di ko mapuno since mostly streaming apps lang laman.
if your planning on using your Shield as a plex server pwede ka gumamit ng 1TB and up for external drive and 1 flash drive to extend your internal storage.
if you format your 1TB as an internal storage its going to be encrypted and can no longer be used interchangeably with other devices like your computer.
kung ako papapiliin mo I'll go with a WD Green 120GB for Php1.3k + orico 3.0 enclosure for Php350-400.

I started to setup my shield last night, I installed kodi 17.6 but it seems atmos is not supported and i can play bluray menu... May need ba ako check on my setup? O may mas ok na player than kodi...

I was using xbmc before on my U1 and it can passtgrough atmos..

So true. If i bohght a minixb ox vs the shield 3 years ago. I might already spent more than the cost of the shield by buying 3 minix box upgrades just to keep up with the times. The shiled was a great buy if you think toc

just got a shield from amazon at $139 last week + $20 global shipping and was surprised it arrived here in cebu in 3 days! wow ha, even much faster than lazada. lol

will be using it to primarily play 4k/atmos mkv files as the xbox seem to have a problem in this area.

sayang di pa din gumagana yung auto color space switching. mali daw yung nasa release notes.

sir, wala naman ako issue with colorspace on Shield -- or at least I'm not aware.  would you care to share what's your issue?  what display are you using, projector or LED/OLED?

tia!

im using oled. pero matagal na kasing issue yun ng shield na di pa rin nila ma resolve up to now.

HDR content is bt.2020 and SD content is rec. 709, pag naka bt.2020 colorspace washed out yung colors. kaya people manually adjust the colorspace depending on what material they watch.

pero di ka naman pihikan di mo mapapansin yung difference hehe

^ thanks, sir!

I may be naïve yet.  I don't truly understand how to interpret a washed out color.  so far with all my 4K HDR BT2020 movie downloads, I'm all wowed by them.  colors are great, clear and detailed.  picturesque scenes are more appreciated in 4K HDR rather in 1080p whether 8bit or HEVC 10bit.

my Shield setting is the recommended one: 3840x2160 59.940 YUV4.2.0 10Bit BT2020.  it is set and forget.  I do not change regardless of what resolution and color space of the material I watch.

I hope to see a washed out color to know how it looks like and understand/learn something more.

maybe other owners could share their observations as well?  tia!

watch a non-HDR movie and set it to RGB rec.709, and compare it to the default. see if you find a difference.

is this after turning the shield completely off? because that is the only way you can turn it on since it has no power button. using the 2017 version btw, not sure about the 2015.

It used to turn on using the remote or controller
