Help finding 48"-55" panel ideal for Kodi setup
« on: Jul 12, 2015 at 07:39 AM »
Shopping for a new TV, size 48"-55", viewing distance 11 feet, no cable, purely for viewing video files of different formats.

Having Kodi is a must. I have an old HTPC with Kodi that can output at 1080p. I'm also looking into new Sony sets with Android TV. Saw a Youtube video about sideloading Kodi on a X830C and I believe it'll just be as easy with other locally available sets like the W700C and W800C. TCL and Skyworth sets with what seems to be custom Android builds are also intriguing. I just can't find a lot of info about them or if Kodi will even work on them.

So I'm trying to decide on:
  • FHD or UHD - From what I've read, at a distance of more than 10 feet, you won't even notice the difference even on a 60" TV
  • Sony/TCL/Skyworth+Kodi internally or Any TV+HTPC with Kodi

Any help would be appreciated.
