Got to audition the Elac B6 at spectra Glorietta last saturday and I ended up buying a pair(impulsively). The soundstage and overall dynamics of these speakers are unbelievable. The bass goes so low that it rattles my cabinets which always makes me check if I accidentally left the subwoofer ON. Performs excellent on HT and Audio. Only thing is you need to have at least 80 watts of power to bring out the best in them plus you need to put them at least 1.5 feet from the walls like most rear ported speakers. Despite those I still believe these are the best speakers you can get in this price and they can even hold their own against way more expensive speakers.

I heard these being powered by BlueSound PowerNode 2 during the recent November Hi-Fi Show at Dusit. boy, can it play Metallica!

Very impressive indeed. For this price this is unbeatable. I even like them better than my B&W 685's especially for HT. I currently use them as fronts with a crossover of 40hz! Now my frequency resp from 40-100hz is flatter than before

I suggest you test them head to head sir and in my opinion they are better in both HT and Audio. Depends nalang siguro if malaki room nyo. Ngayon I use them in my 35sqm space and theyre more than enough to fill the space

Besting Kef ls50 and BW 685s2 according to the reviews is something. Am just wondering why the disparity in pricing, $280 vs P21.5k?

I think the killer deal here in terms of SQ is the UB5. At USD399 at amazon it sports the same design like that of the KEF R300 with a concentrically mounted tweeter on the midrange for point source purpose plus a seperate woofer. All aluminum mid and woofer at that. From the B5's price its just a hundred + dollars more and you step up a whole lot.

At USD399 for the UB5 vs USD1700 for the R300? If it does 95% of what the R300 can do at a quarter of the price then its a no brainer. Sadly its not going to be a seamless addition to most systems since its a pig to drive at 83db @ 4 ohms dipping to 3.2ohms on some material. One will need a high powered and high current quality amp to make it shine.

So excited to hear this one. Hope we have it here locally soon

even the Debut B5 is a pig to drive at 85db sensitivity and 6 ohms (min 5.4 ohms). better make sure your amp is up to the task!

one thing i've learned over the years. invest in a very good amp, it can bring the best out of your speakers.

in my case, the amps cost more than the speakers (for the set-up in the listening area).

my actual experience, minimum:

tube 22 wpc triode / 45 wpc ultralinear
solid state a-b amplification 80 wpc
solid state class a 40 wpc

however, audition first to check the matching or pairing of amp and speaker. after which, decide if you need higher wattage or not. higher wattage means more juice for the speaker means can do higher volume. higher wattage means better SQ, I AM NOT SURE.
