LG 43UF680T or LG 43UH6500
« on: May 13, 2016 at 11:30 PM »
My previous TV was a LG 32" LE5500 back in 2010/2011.  After checking different shops, I've trimmed down my choices to these 2.

Both models from LG are 4K(although saw a thread na fake 4k iyung 680T).  The UH6500 has HDR, uses Web OS 3.0(2.0 for 680T), has magic remote(same) and a refresh rate of 120hz(100hz for 680T).  The biggest difference is the price.  680T is only 26k (straight payment) while uh6500 is 34k.  Any inputs which one is the better choice taking the price into consideration?  Is the extra 8k really worth it?

TIA!

The 43UF680t is priced at 26t for a good reason.  To convince the FULL HD buyers to get on board the UHD bandwagon at nearly the same price point.  The 3K 2160p image is much better than the 1K 1080p.  So it is a great deal.

If you can afford the 30t plus amount, go for the 6500.

Thanks for the inputs t-bone! In 5 yrs time, do you think the 680t would still be relevant in terms of technology?  Vome to think of it, there's not a lot of 4k media yet.

Suggest you play fast scenes of same movie in both TVs side by side. I think 680t is only 60Hz, you will notice it in side by side comparison.

Get the 6500 if you can afford it. :)

x x x there's not a lot of 4k media yet.

I have had qualms whether to buy a 4k TV, exactly the same concern as yours about the lack of 4k video sources. Then I took the plunge in Q4 of 2015.

So far I don't think about it as much as I used to. Why? Because all my bluray discs look fantastic when upscaled to 4k. A perfect example of this bluray disc is the remastered version of the movie GLADIATOR (2000) which was reissued in 2010. It is only 1080p, alright. But when Hollywood gets something like this properly made, the upscaling with a 4k panel truly stands out.

I also observe that my 1080p MKV videos with excellent encoding bitrates (these are the big file sizes ranging from 15GB to 25GB, not the 1GB-2GB ones that suffer from artifacts because of high video compression) look great, too.

The other thing about 4k videos: they gobble up too much HD space.

So go ahead. Take the 4k plunge!

Honestly. Kasama yang 43UF680T sa option ko. Pero nauwi ako sa 43W800C. 28k ang pinaka murang nakita ko compared sa mga mall prices. Satisfied ako sa android tv. Running 5.1.1 lollipop. I would suggest na ito nalang din kunin mo.

Yet. Kung 4k tv talaga ang napupusuan mo. You can never go wrong with X800C. Basically sya yung 4k ng tv na binili ko. Hehe!

Hello po! On the HDR for UH6500 - it's only HDR 10 (does not include Dolby Vision, unlike UH7700 and above models, which supports both format).

A very informative HDR read: http://www.cnet.com/news/dolby-vision-vs-hdr10-how-to-survive-the-hdr-tv-format-war/

(Although in that article, it says LG supports both formats - however, in a recent article released by LG, their lower end models with HDR supposedly just supports HDR 10)
