4K (UHD) Flat LED Monitor for the PC
« on: Jun 13, 2016 at 08:18 AM »
I see a lot of 4k (UltraHD) TVs rolling out.  I want one for the PC, I am currently using 2 monitors both configured at 1920 x 1080, one 29" on landscape via HDMI and a 24" on portrait via DVI for Word documents (also nice for windows explorer)  Perhaps a 4k monitor on landscape will add to the display real estate.

I am looking for at least 40"-42" 4K monitor.  I have yet to see one. All I see are TVs.

But I suppose using HDMI wll also allow the TV to be used as monitor, just wasting the speakers and the digital tuner.  Not a problem

Came across this Hisense 42" Ultra HD Smart TV Black LED42K320UW (Intl) at LAZADA and is priced relatively cheap at less than P30k, discounted from P53K   (http://www.lazada.com.ph/hisense-42-ultra-hd-smart-tv-black-led42k320uw-intl-3769596.html)

Not much reviews online.  Would like to see here if anyone has had experience with the brand.  Thanks in Advance.

Just learned that Hisense is a 47-year China-based manufacturer of electrical/electronic products with partnerships with Hitachi, and is the OEM for SHARP tvs.  If you guys can verify, that would be nice.

According to Wiki.

Eager to expand beyond consumer electronics, Hisense Group aimed to also become a regional leader in household appliances, computers and communications.[9] This strategy prompted great outlays of capital on R&D and on the creation of industrial parks,[9] etc.

In July 2015, Hisense bought a Mexico facility from Sharp for $23.7 million alongside rights to use the Sharp brand on televisions sold in North and South America.[6]

They get the sharp in north and south america.

Yes, but they are not 4K, at least not the ones I've seen so far.

Just saw a MyView 4K but 50" and priced at P35K.  Now that's a lot of real estate space for a PC monitor. P5T more for an added 8-inch diagonal.  http://www.lazada.com.ph/my-view-50-4k-ultra-hd-led-tv-black-50lx290-with-free-wall-bracket-2948570.html   Very tempting.

av_phile1,

What would be your source for the 4k monitor if ever?  Do you have an HDMI 2.0-compliant video card?  I think that is the biggest barrier to using a 4k monitor/TV.  I currently have a Sony 4K TV and I connect my desktop and laptop to it, but since I don't have a capable graphics card, I can only use it at 1920x1080 anyway.

I currently use two monitors each configured at 1920 x 1080 (HDMI and DVI connection) and the driver sees a total of 3820 x 2160.  But I still plan to use two monitors one in portrait mode at full HD, so if I have to upgrade the graphics card, not a problem.

Will get what other upgrades are needed for it, like high speed HDMI cable, HDMI 2 compliant graphics card,  etc. The important thing for now is that the monitor is 4K capable.  thanks for the heads up.

My experience with the Sony has been good, so far.  I only have the basic model 49x8000c, but the picture quality is still excellent.  I don't recommend the LG 680T units, although they are cheaper.
