Yeah, I'm old school too. I think the 87 Lakers were the best team of all time, for example.

But just keeping it real - the players before were underpaid, exploited, told how to act and speak and toe the line. And played through injuries too - we were deprived of watching Larry Bird for longer than we wanted because he had such a short career, playing through a bad back. The list is long....

Part of MJ's appeal - apart from his great skill - was that he was the white man's black man - no tattoos, always wore a suit, behaved to please Corporate America, and never spoke about social issues. Today's players are more fairly compensated, have greater power and voice.

Eto nga pala ang fave pic ko from today's news feeds. Isa pang idol ko...

Overpaid vs. what? I would base it on what value the owners get.
Salaries reflect what the market will bear.
Based on that, several of the highest paid players today are underpaid, even, because of the cap.

ang totoong basehan naman kasi para masabing underpaid o overpaid ang player is pano nila pinupuno ang arena everytime na present sila sa court. kaya i do agree din na underpaid si MJ sa NBA. dami nagsasabi na overpaid si KOBE but then kahit saang court pumunta si kobe kahit matanda na sya punong puno ang arena. si mike conley ang literal na overpaid.hahaha

Di ba ang pagiging underpaid or overpaid is based on what you contribute on the court, how you carry your team, attract FAs.....and not how big the crowd is in the arena?  Kobe was indeed overpaid.  Not only was he atrocious on the court in those last 2 years, but he crippled the team with his salary both by limiting the team's cap but also his inability to attract marquee players.

usaping kita kasi yan sir ang bayad nila sa player. kaya lang namna anlaki ng last 2 year contract ni kobe it's because pagtatanaw ng utang na loob ng lakers organization yan kay kobe.. mas lamang ang how big is the crowd when you are inside the arena.  saka kaya lang naman mahina sa FA ang lakers it's because of Jim Buss. main reason ng mga players wala syang alam sa basketball kaya no reason pupunta ang mga stars sa lakers. pero starting next year lets see na si Magic na ang my hawak,

Kaya nga overpaid.  The contract was about utang na loob.... not performance.

On the other side of the fence there are a lot of underpaid Stars in the NBA http://www.cheatsheet.com/sports/most-underpaid-nba-players-today.html/?a=viewall today. Guys like Steph Curry, Isiah Thomas and Giannis Antetokounmpo who are paid way below other players who have minimum impact on their respective teams. These guys are playing under current bargain contracts that are not commensurate to their contributions to their team. Expect these guys though to have max deals once their contract is up for renewal or when they hit free agency. Some will continue to shine while others may get injured and loose their touch. Star players who have a long tenure on their team tend to get 'rewarded' by  huge contract even when they are already on their decline which is in a way for teams to recognize or make up for the years when the player is on his prime while making less money.

At their prime, I think the 83 sixers are the best of all time. 83 ba yun? Basta the year they won the championship with moses malone. Imo hehe.

^Loved that team too, even though they swept my Lakers in the Finals. Top five players were all >50%FG. Moses was a monster. I was happy that Dr. J played well in the 4Q of G4 and finally won his only NBA ring.

I'd really like to see Curry and Durant as co-MVP for this season.  They both deserve it.

Westbrook and Harden both had vintage years but Russell should get it.
