hi WeTeK users/Marvin.

how to:
-  install/upgrade with Web OS 2.01?   But I'll stick with it's current Android 5.1 firmware..

can I bring mine to your store?  =))

TIA!

Sure you can bring your unit to the store :) To upgrade, you just activate WeUpdate and proceed with the update.

After much reading and research I took the plunge and opted to get a Wetek Hub earlier today.

Thank you for taking the plunge, scifi-fan :)

Personally after trying Web OS 2.01 for about a whole day and night, I opted to install the same launcher I used on my other Android Kodi Boxes. By doing this, I made all of them have the same UI so that other members of my family from my 11 year old to my wife can use any TV in the house to avoid confusion.

I would have chosen Libreelec on all of them but some of the TV's in the house aren't smart TVs and we use more Youtube rather than watch live tv nowadays.

The good news is that nobody has even bothered to watch live TV using the sky digibox so I think in a couple of months time I can disconnect my subscription already saving money and moving that part of the budget to something else. Every recurring peso in the budget saved is a godsend.

Also here's some more info;

The built-in WePlayer is actually a modded version of Kodi that includes the AMLogic fixes for it to detect HD Audio. Hence if you decide to do a fresh install of Kodi (d/led and installed from Playstore) it will NOT detect HD Audio receivers.

Android 5 is working ok BUT also like other Kodi boxes, HDMI CEC isn't fully working because a Libreelec OS install + Kodi actually is more fully compliant to HDMI CEC as well as HD Audio.

Also the IR extender is a wonderful addition in the box. Most Kodi boxes w/ stock IR remotes are so bad.

Now that netflix is working reliably for me ... I had to install the other streaming apps.

Local First ..

I want TV works ..But I cant do full screen .
I am using the beta 6 android ... I think I tried it with the earlier OS and it would not even stream any video, but I am not sure..

BBC iplayer for shows in the UK . You need a vpn connection , and happily it works with the Hub

Amazon Prime Video was a challenge , I heard the native android app does not work and only SD if ever , so I did not try .

But through a Kodi add-on and a test kodi app . Amazon Prime is viewable in full HD 1080P.

A relative actually gave me access to xfinity/comcast premium cable  which would have allowed me US live TV and access to HBO , showtime , Starkz  .etc ...  on the HUB  , but sadly their app is limited to mobile devices ,and prevents output over HDMI , so I am left to using my iPad ( also no output for a iPad hdmi adaptor)  for that ..

I'm not part of the family, but I'd vote on faster internet haha. We could all use faster internet *drool*

Thanks for more feedback :D

Saludo ako sayo! ^-^ I wanted to try Amazon because of The Grand Tour but I couldn't find the app. I didn't know Kodi has an add on for that.

I can't recall if this setting is in the marshmallow rom but I'm currently using the v1.03 developer preview.
You can go to settings > display > screen rotation then select "force land" this should force all the apps to do landscape mode.

Quite late/new, will this allow optical connection (audio) for using an older receiver?

HDMI only, sir..

what you could do is:
-- connect Wetek Hub to your TV thru HDMI
-- then from your TV's optical out, connect to your older receiver.

hope you would find WeTek Hub as your new NMT.  it performs good!

thanks!

I see, thanks.  Yes, that's why I'm researching for a 2nd player for another room, to see how it is vs the Minix U1 (w/c I have in 1 room), but I couldn't find any comparison bet. both.

Thanks, good as a starter.  Is there a more detail one?  Is there an airmouse/keyboard for the Wetek Hub?

Really interested with the Wetek hub, just have a couple of questions? does this have a DAC? i want to use this as an audio player too, has anyone tried this using lossless files? does this support album art? Hows the audio quality?

Looks like Marshmallow 6.01 firmware for the hub has been released.
