Curb Your Enthusiasm
« on: Aug 15, 2006 at 01:02 AM »
Finally, Curb Your Enthusiasm makes it local debut on HBO Asia. This show's hilarious, and it gets better in the later seasons.

Having already watched Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, I wasn't really gonna watch the televised episodes, but I was really surprised when HBO aired all expletives intact last night. Maybe the censors couldn't understand the dialogue? LOL.  ;D

I did not think too much of the show in its first season. For me it was very good but not quite great.

But Seasons 2-4 are absolutely brilliant.

I just finished Season 5 on DVD a few days ago. Not at par with the previous seasons, but still the funniest thing on air these days.

I wonder if Jeff's wife will survive future episodes uncut?  ;D

It's like Seinfeld with the crazy plots and the dialogues a little more loose. Is it improv or all on the page? I never knew Larry David was such a sharp tack.  Will be watching this as long as HBO gets away with showing it, potty mouth and all.

There are no fixed scripts, just a detailed 1-2 page outline for each episode. Everyone in the cast is an expert at improv!

As a result, rarely are two takes identical. Jeff suggested to Larry that some of the funnier outtakes that went in a totally different direction but were still quite good should be placed on the DVDs. Larry disagreed, saying he already selects what he considers the best, so why should audiences get to see any less than that?

Season One is more episodic. The rest have season-long story arcs, but their episodes can still be taken individually. Really genius.

I saw it last night.

It was an early episode. Much of the Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes I've seen I've downloaded on-line. The funniest ones include "The Doll", "The Nanny from Hell", "The Ski Lift", "The Baptism", "Krazee-Eyez Killah", "Jesus, Mary, Joseph and Larry", "Beloved Aunt" (I wonder if this episode will be aired), "The Benadryl Brownie", "The Korean Bookie" and "The Christ Nail".

Jeff's wife, Susie, is a hilarious character. No one says "F**k you, Larry!" better than she could.

And no other wife, fictional or factual, has ever called her husband a "fat crap" as much.  ;D

Laughing out loud at today’s episode. Grumpy old man talaga si Larry. Nung dati, di ko ito pinapansin kasi akala ko pang-seniors. Pero it’s for everyone who has ever felt socially awkward but too polite to say what’s on their mind.
