HDMI connections
« on: Sep 15, 2016 at 09:47 PM »
Newbie question....

My avr is yamaha rx-v379. Dvd player is Philips DVP3690K. This is how I connected them via HDMI.

HDMI out(player)>>HDMI in (avr)>>HDMI out (avr)>>HDMI in (tv).

When I watch DVD's which I guess is Dolby Digital the info on the display of the avr shows PCM, not Dolby Digital. But when I connect the audio output of the dvd player to the avr via digital coaxial the display on the avr shows Dolby Digital. Why is this so? Is there something wrong?

Hi sealander,

You can check your Philips player and check the HDMI audio and is should be set to raw/passthrough so your avr can do the decoding.

Hi sealander,

You can check your Philips player and check the HDMI audio and is should be set to raw/passthrough so your avr can do the decoding.

Sir Jnazareta eto po nakalagay sa manual:

Sound
1 Press .
2 Select [Setup] > [Audio] to access the
audio setup options.
• [Analogue Output]: Select an audio
format for sound output when this
player is connected through the
AUDIO OUT L/R connectors.

• [Digital Audio]: Select an audio format
for sound output when this player is
connected through the COAXIAL
connector.
• [Digital Output]: Select a type of digital output:
 [Off] - Disable digital output;
[All] - Support multi-channel audio formats;
[PCM Only] - Downmix to two-channel audio signal.
• [LPCM Output]: Select a LPCM
(Linear Pulse Code Modulation)
output sampling rate. The higher
the sampling rate, the better the
sound quality. [LPCM Output]
is enabled only when [PCM
Only] is selected under [Digital
Output].
• [HDMI Audio]: Enable or disable the audio output through HDMI connection
• [Sound Mode]: Select a preset sound
effect.

Should Iand  DISABLE HDMI and select DIGITAL OUTPUT?
