what about your files via NAS ba? if so, connected to your AC wifi router? or your NAS power enough to list all the files or something like that?

I'm using Kodi on a PC and on a HiMedia Q10 Pro, and a WD My Cloud for NAS ... I'm able to access NAS automatically like it's an internal drive

I transferred the Minix Neo U1 to the HT room where I have wired connections to the router and the NAS, and Kodi was able to access the network drive immediately. So my issue must be caused by a combination of (slower than wired) wifi access and the relatively large, I assume, number of files (currently 118,xxx files in 6190 folders) in the NAS.

Some files don't output sound through the receiver though, even with the audio settings in Kodi for DTS, DTS-HD, pass through, etc, have been checked/toggled. Will investigate further.

ah naka Minix ka pala. try mo eto. dun sa settings, meron dun sound > lagay mo sa hindi pass thru tapos balik mo ulet. do it several times until you hear the "click" sound notification when you select the pass thru (kung anu man mode gamit mo) then tsaka mo start kodi.

although hindi minix U1 gamit ko, baka lang it can solve the issue. currently coming from off state (no power, unplugged) and left on pass thru - ayaw tumunog sakin. so before i start kodi, punta muna ko settings and change the sound output to another option then balik sa pass thru until i hear that select sound notification. tapos kodi na. nangyayari ito sakin pag galing sa unplugged state. pero pag naka plug pero off no issues. try mo baka lang maka tulong.

U1 supposedly capable of AC. anu ba NAS gamit mo?

para madali... try to install first sa android phone nyo. go to play store and install kodi. just to get the feel of it. including accessing network files. hirap kasi sa TV/HT sayang kuryente di pa touch screen :)

eto baka makatulong. sa windows naman

Kaya pala ang zidoo may sarili syang version ng kodi 16.1 which is called Zdmc...
It fixes the audio passthrough issue in kodi.

Pero gusto ko din bumili ng hi media q5 pro para ma compare.

Have you tried XBMC for Minix 16.3? I have no issues using this on my minix u1 when it comes to audio, even HD and ATMOS :)

I actually use the XBMC for
Minix instead of the generic Kodi.  I'll check what version I have.

Also I upgraded the Minix firmware and I don't know if that is causing the sound issues I noticed last night. I seem to remember having no issues before when I try it in the HT room.

Have you tried  add video --> moviedb scraper --> enable fan art?

Or you meant movie thumbnails? which is automatic if you have selected moviedb scapper  as your media scrapper

The XBMC for Minix that I have is an older version, version 15.3. But I think I know now the reason for my audio issues. The unit's settings for Digital Audio was reset to PCM (I guess this is the default) and not HDMI when I transferred the Neo U1 from the bedroom to the HT room. Now it seems all audio, including DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD, are ok. Not sure about Atmos per se since I don't have an Atmos setup yet.

In the course of my tinkering, I noticed that at the start of most movies, the video seems choppy but after around 30 seconds, ok na.

Hi DPT,

Thanks for the immediate response, add video --> moviedb scraper --> enable fan art was the step I followed and it generated the thumbnails and added the Movies under the home screen. My inquiry is when I added new videos to my external drive no thumbnails was added to the movies under the home screen. Any other suggestions on how to show the thumbnails automatically whenever I add new movies to my external drive?

You need to update library. Either go to to settings -- video -- library. Manually then set it auto on every launch of kodi. Or you can press left or right d pad which ever the case maybe when you are inside the movie  tab and do a manual update there

Manually search it. Right click the movie in the movie tabs. Movie information click then select refresh.

Foreign movies that are retitled in English and no one updated the movie database to point the the original title is usually the reason for it.

Do you guys use skins and/or builds?   If so, what do you use?  As of the moment, I just settle for the default (confluence) skin.

Go to Minix Setup -> Playback Settings - set HDMI Self Adaptation to OFF
