What is the speed of your internet connection?
Varies between 10-15 mbps. Minsan pumapalo ng up to 30-40+ mbps.

I downloaded the Kodi add on wizard from google play. I noticed na yung sa Exodus and Zen, a lot less ang incidence ng buffering compared to the addons that I got from the Kodi settings section. I would agree na yung problem is dependent sa source.

How to access a networked drive (WD My Book Live) using Kodi?

if it is Samba, you can just point to it when you are adding videos. The part where you specify where the vidoes are located then click Windows Networking or is it SMB?

If you cannot see your WD MY Book live on the network. My guess is that you  need something to act as  a Samba server. Most router have built in samba support as a server that manages network resources.

@DPT, I can actually access my WD My Book Live thru other apps but not thru KODI, I am not quite familiar with what you mentioned about Samba, I do not see that word in KODI....

If you do not mind, can you specify it for me thru a screen shot, I am noob on this...

O please pardon my ignorance, and I haven't had time to backread at all,...
Hindi ba complicated gamitin ang KODI,..? A friend of mine brought an Amazon Fire TV stick,
and it was jailbroken, then one of my friends here bought an inexpensive media player via Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Bros-Unite-Amlogic-Bluetooth-Streaming/dp/B01G8BSQOQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1477941965&sr=1-1&keywords=kodi+player+mx

And ipinakita nila na pwede ka nga daw mag-install ng kung ano anong channels like TFC for us,
I did not play around with it, is it complicated to use,..?

Thanks,...

If is android TV I am not sure if you can actually move the whole kodi install to a microsd card. If not you can do it by using the adoptive storage feature of Android Marshmallow or Android 6.

I used to run Kodi from a usb stick in Windows  7 before. I cannot remember if i just installed it directly to the usb drive/Microsd or used Portableapps.com software.

I'm thinking of buying one of those budget android TV boxes for streaming via Kodi on a 15 mbps connection.  I noticed that the cheaper octa-core ones cost about 2x as much as the quad core boxes.  I am torn between purchasing 2 quad cores vs just one octa-core.  The question is that is there really a dramatic difference between the two variants right now?  Or is it just about "future-proofing"?

It is usually not a question of cores but it is more like the actual video playback capability of the said Chip.

Amlogic is better supported than Rockchip or AllWinner chips. Rockchip or Allwinner chips boxes sells around a third less than an Amlogic box.

If you really want to get a cheap but worth while box. Get atleast an  S905x or S912x amlogic box. Preferably with 1000Mbps Ethernet and 2GB ram and 16GB rom.

Those things sells around 55$ direct from China.

Thanks for that, I guess a better question would be for these 2:

CPU: Amlogic S905X Quad Core ARM Cortex-A53 up to 2.0GHZ
GPU: 5-Core ARM Mali-450
RAM: 1GB DDR3
ROM: 8GB EMMC
Operation System: Android 6.0
WiFi: Built in 2.4GHz WiFi
LAN: Ethernet:10/100M, standard RJ-45
HD: HD 2.0 up to 4k2k Output
3D: Hardward 3D graphics acceleration

CPU: Amlogic S912 64 bit Octa core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU up to 2 GHz
GPU:ARM Mali-T820MP3 GPU up to 750MHz (DVFS)
SDRAM :2GB DDRIII
FLASH:16GB EMMC Flash ( 8~32GB Optional )
WiFi:Built in 2.4G/5G WiFi Support IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
Blutooth:Bluetooth 4.0

Note that the first is about half the price of the second.

Amlogic S912 Octa-core Android 6.0 TV Box 2GB RAM 16GB ROM 4K ULT Streaming Media Player/Internet TV Support 3D-HD Full HD 1080P With Kodi 17.0 Fully Loaded Dual WiFi 2.4G/5G Bluetooth4.0

S905X and S912 are very close in terms of raw performance. The only difference is that S912 has support for HDR and VP9 codec. So if HDR and VP9 is not important to you then you can go the cheaper route and get the S905X player.

If i were you. Ill get the S912 Box.  Better networking with dual band wifi and 1000mpbs ethernet.

Try to see videos of S905x boxes using Wifi for networking. Hit or miss. Alot of times the  Wifi Network speed  falls below to a  forth of the advertised network speed using wifi.

If you are using it to stream you need to have the flexibility of using 5Ghz band if the 2.4 Ghz is congested and bottlenecks your streaming speeds. Or fall back the Gigabit ethernet.

is there a site or perhaps we can put on 1st page recommeneded add-ons and instructions (kahit URL lang) so we can have a list of good stuff in kodi? or baka meron na website that tackles this?
