My Movie Room Project
« on: Sep 26, 2016 at 06:44 PM »
I finally had the courage to share on this thread my own set up. I have recently completed my own dedicated movie room with the interior designed by my daughter as part of her final course requirements.

The room before:

Blinds Up:

The rarely used TV:

The plans:
Floor Plan

Reflected Ceiling Plan

Elevation/Section:

I'll update later on the designer's rendition, the construction photos and the final output. Thank you for looking.

Sir @dencio105,

That console table directly underneath the TV, it really looks nice with a "retro" vibe and it matches the wall's dark color. Great contrast. I have always seen console tables at furniture stores with dark finish.

Thanks sir! We actually had a difficult time sourcing the console table since the Marantz SR6010 AVR would not fit in a lot of the available ones in the market.  Seriously considered made to order fabrication but it would not be completed within the project's time table. Luckily we found this (approved by the interior designer of course) at the same store where we got the recliners.

Gears na pinagipunan, binili paunti unti yun iba tinago muna sa opisina para di makita ni kumander at yun iba naman like the tv hiningan ng budget kay missis:

Amplifiers: Marantz SR6010 AVR from Audible Illusions
SMSL Q5 Pro HiFi 2.0 Mini Home Digital Amplifier for Atmos speakers from ebay
TV:  LG 65UF950T from Saver's Appliance through OLX
Speakers:  Fronts: PSB Image T6 from Pau_D_Mann
Center: Mordaunt-Short Avant 905C from Ampalaya
Surrounds: Bose 161 (wanted a matching PSB but got vetoed by the ID for aesthetics)
Atmos In Ceiling Speakers: Anthony Audio Hi End 8" ceiling speakers
Subwoofer: SVS PB1000 from Mike C (wanted to go dual but had to withdraw my purchase from Nijababez due to unfortunate circumstance)
Video Source: LG BP 325 3D blu ray player
Seiki all region 4K U-Vision Up-Conversion BD player(still to be tested) from ebay
AVR: Gold Source 3000W from dfa172001
Surge Protector: Hi-Fi Weiduka AC8.8 Advanced Audio Power 3000W 15A Purifier Lightning protection from ebay
Speaker Wall Plates: 2 - 3 way Monoprice brand from Anya618
Speaker Wires: Columbia 1.25mm/3C Royal Cord (bought one 75m box)
Banana Plugs: Monoprice from Anya618
Subwoofer Isolation: SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System from Mike C
DIY Isolation Pad wrapped in my excess carpet material idea taken from here: https://sandpaperandglue.com/2013/06/12/guest-post-how-to-diy-a-subwoofer-isolation-pad/

Thank you to PDVD members mentioned above who all contributed towards the fulfillment of this project!

Thank you sir! Actually she's gotten very good at rendering that she also did the render for 2 of her classmate's projects. Proud to say that she got a 1.0 grade for this!

He he bro baby pa yan!
baby din tawag sakin ng mga close friends ko :)

kidding aside bro, with that room size i would have designed it ALMOST the same.  Except for the ceiling "constellation" ceiling and a short throw PJ.  at tulad ng sinabi ni bro noli, hanep parang wala pinag iba rendered and actual.  (sorry frustrated interior designer lang)

Yun ceiling constellation talaga ang design nya kaya kahit anong convince namin na ok lang kahit hindi na, yun pa rin nasunod. Even her adviser said that glow in the dark stick on stars would be enough  ^-^. Actually the brighter 'stars' represents each family member's birth signs. 3 lang kasi I share the same sign with my other daughter.

Nauna lang nabili yun TV had I known na magdesign sya ng total black out I would've had gotten a PJ too since I thought that the existing blinds will not be enough for a PJ so I opted for TV instead.
