The Mole (2008)
« on: Jun 03, 2008 at 10:39 PM »
It actually sounds EXACTLY like The Mole... without a mole!  ;D

I loved that show. I've only seen three seasons though - The Mole 1, Celebrity Mole: Hawaii and The Mole Australia 2005. d**n good show - and I'm one who watches them all, remember?  ;D

I hope there's a 2006 edition being contemplated somewhere...

What did you think of The Mole this year, Hankey?

Caught the premiere and most fans say it's less complicated than the original installments. I liked what I saw and I hope it won't be as disappointing as Treasure Hunters.

The premiere was pretty good. Anderson Cooper was a better host, though. But I'm worried if ABC will finish the season - ratings were pretty bad. Then again, it's summer, so they probably don't have anything better to plug into their schedule.

Is this your first season, Reuven? If so and you're not familiar with the show: there's at least one clue shown per episode that gives viewers a hint on who The Mole is. Sometimes the clues are actually pretty obvious when they show the rundown of presented clues at the end of the season. So that's something else to look out for as you're watching the show.

Yup, first season. They said Anderson Cooper was snarkier. I'm actually saving all episodes so I can spot the clues as the season progresses.  ;D

My weekend plans fell through, so I think I'm gonna do a The Mole (2): The Next Betrayal marathon. I haven't seen it yet!

Yeah, Anderson's snarkier. Goes with the territory.  ;D

I actually even prefer Ahmad Rashad (Celebrity Mole host) to this new guy, though. He was a bit funny. This guy seems dull. Maybe he'll lighten up in a few episodes. At least he's not robotic like the Treasure Hunters host was.

Seen the second episode already? The tasks are really clever and relatively more original than the usual reality challenges. Love it!

I have a growing suspicion that the mole could be Mark.

Very fun new season, task-wise. "Pigs in a blanket" and "When pigs fly" done literally - who would've thought anyone would come up with a task like that?

Mark could be The Mole. Perfect task to get an exemption on without arousing suspicion. For me Bobby is obviously NOT The Mole, since The Mole would never be that obvious. That was pathetic - boasting about soccer skills then being really bad, then being wheeled in a wheelbarrow by a girl throughout the next task? It reminds of the girl who eventually won The Mole 2 (yes, I did the marathon over the weekend). She would literally cramp up and vomit when made to do running in earlier tasks. It made a lot of people think she was The Mole.

Been debating on whether to watch The Mole as I never got to watch the first season. Your comments made me interested enough to download and watch it. Besides patapos na yung Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen so I'm out of reality shows to watch. :)

Another fun set of tasks this week. I thought the best way to subtly sabotage a task would've been to "accidentally" talk after the finish line, so those two teams had me thinking.

New Yorker-guy is so annoying. I think I'd rather put up with a season of Jonathan & Victoria AND Flo instead of listening to him and seeing his smug face for one ore episode.

I was surprised with the outcome, though:

In the past, when someone takes the bribe money, the execution is suspended. I guess that's why they were all shocked. But when they showed Bobby saying he'd never take any money and play to the end, I sort of knew his elimination would happen in a few seconds.

First time to watch it. Parang TAR last week, fun! :D I just don't like the part where they have to quiz the contestants.

Could Paul be the mole? He has been gunning to get rid of Bobby. He built an alliance with Marci. He got an exemption while on the task with Liz. All of them were the ones executed so far.

Some fans are complaining that this version is watered down. The quizzes seem to repeat themselves. Annoying contestants like Nicole and Paul get more airtime. I dunno but since this is my first season, I'm still hooked.

The quizzes always seem to repeat themselves every season. I really wouldn't consider this "watered down," especially after Celebrity Mole.

Have you guys spotted anything that looks like clues to The Mole's identity on the episodes?

I was scared for big guy when he was turning all red.

I'm really glad it was Mark who won! If that player didn't win, then that player could might as well be the mole.

Mark was really serious (sometimes too serious) with all the challenges. The other two weren't worthy at all. This show has even spawned another Omarosa in Nicole.

I really wanted Mark to either win or be The Mole.

 ;D

With its ratings, I doubt we'll see another season. But at least the show now probably went out on a high note... not as a dumbed down "Celebrity Edition."

Yup, there's only a remote chance it will be picked up for another season. Really thought it was Nicole who was the mole. I was thinking she was going for the "Acting so much like the mole, she's probably not" tactic all along.

I have to say I was disappointed with the "clues" they gave for the TV audience this season. I can't imagine anyone figuring most of those out.

Still, a cut above most of the reality shows out there.
