For about 10 years now, I have a small Auratone 5CT-V (7.5 X 7.5 inches) with a 5-inch woofer, which I find useful in testing amps I'm interested to buy. Auratone 5C used to be the most popular recording studio monitor before Yamaha NS-10 became the standard in the '80s. The 5CT-V is relatively newer, with a tweeter and is magnetically shielded.
The original 5C is smaller (6.5 X 6.5 inches) and with only one 5-inch speaker unit. Two weeks ago, Eric -- also a PDVD member -- dropped by our house here in Davao looking for a Sony cartridge with good condition stylus. Since I have one such cartridge, he offered to swap a pair of 5Cs, which I find good-looking notwithstanding the mini size. I was surprised these tiny square boxes perform very well and are truly hifi speakers especially when you listen with the lights out.
