Help: Recommendations for AVR and Sub
« on: Apr 26, 2017 at 08:26 AM »
My AVR just died and I am in need of a replacement. My fronts are a pair of Wharfdale 10.1 bookshelves. Center and surrounds are wharfdales as well.  Sub is a passive sub that came with the avr (onkyo htib)

My choices are down to Yamaha RX-V381 or Denon X520BT. While for the sub it's the Pokl Audio PSW110.

My living room is around 8sqm. With 1 side open. Max budget is around 33k

Aee my choices good enough or would you recommend something else for me to audition?

Thanks!

both of your 5.1 2016 AVR choices are good with your Wharfes (tho I'm siding with Yammy AVR rather Denon as it match suitable with your Wharfes).. as for the sub, I might recommend you to consider US Audio as its cheaper and performs well enough.  or find a Wharfe sub.

the money you could save you could keep it... or prep to buy your future front floorstanders =)

Thanks for the response. I'm leaning on getting the yammy. Or get the denon + svs PB1000.

wharfedale is warm to laidback, you need bright avr like onkyo pioneer cambridge etc. amp-speaker matching is very important in every system. yamaha and denon are both leaning to the warm/bassy side.it might not be a good combination for me. anyway audition, and let your ears decide.

Audition both brader. Mas ok if both stores have the rxv381 and x520bt and may wharfes sila, then your ears will decide. Ok din yung suggest ni mhacman na US Audio na sub.

marami nag susuggest ng yamaha + polk/wharf bro although hindi ko pa na try yan. pag mag svs pb1000 ka hindi ka lalabis sa budget mo?

Yeah. Pasok naman sa budget yung PSB. But given na 8sqm lang yung area, baka nag waste lang ako ng money if hindi din ma maximize yung sub.

ayos lang yan brader, mas ok ang overpowered kesa underpowered. future proof na rin if ever lumaki area mo, daming may gustong magkaroon ng svs sub at isa na ko dun sabi nga nila "svs or nothing"
