Most cinematic nonlinear experimental thing I've seen so far this year? First four hours of the new Twin Peaks would make a good candidate.

so just to clarify: since this is a continuation of the original, I need to watch the original to understand and appreciate this new series, right?

Me too. Just into episode 3 of Season 1. Didn't even recognize the young Kyle MacLachlan unless you stare at him ha ha ha.

It's...helpful, but I suspect not essential. The plot is so incomprehensible anyway and there's so much new going on  I'll bet not watching the first two seasons you'll still be in the same situation.

FYI: According to David Lynch himself, all you need is Fire Walk With Me but watching the original series should prove helpful.

Twin Peaks Season 3 Episode 8: Far as I'm concerned Lynch just jumped to the head of two lines: best use of CGI effects, and most bizarre hour of television. Noah Hawley, eat dust. Kubrick watch your back.

The way things are going now no I DON'T think it's essential to watch everything before this. Diving in cold is just as beautifully crazy and nonsensical as the series so far, anyway.

Well at least they went back to another episode of having no answers nor direction instead of being completely looney. How long will I have to endure this?

What do you mean? They introduced the concept of alternate universes.

Plenty of answers in episode 8--actually the birth of the mythology if the theories are true.

The link above explains what the episode provided.

The show piques one's interest and anticipation, knowing that nothing is predictable in a "crazy" or "nonsensical" way.

Liked the last two episodes better except for the irritating car honking scene in this last episode.

Best interpretation of Twin Peaks Season 3 part 13 I've seen anywhere so far.

Prophecies for Game of Thrones and Twin Peaks:

Spectacular barbecue! Best grilling ever! Meat on a stick--or rather batwinged kebab on a spear. Game fanboys probably wetting themselves again and again over the vast buffet of roasting canned pork.

Have no access to any leak or privileged information just what my inner third-eyed raven tells me: The Kingslayer will turn Queenslayer and either take his own life or be revenged upon (long list of candidates but I nominate No-Stark).

Said Stark will also manage to kill the Mountain completing her list more or less but fall before taking Cersei (see above).

Fire will marry Ice and forge a lasting reign and the Hand will fall or the reverse: Fire will be doused and Ice melted and the Hand'll clutch the throne (making his sham marriage a real one). One or two of the oversized flapping flamethrowers will get stung by a scorpion, and only one (or two) will face the Night King, backed by an army of obsidian-tipped spearmen.

O and while we're at it: Fire'll be defiant learning of Ice's true status till Ice exposes himself to her (militarily not literally) and she'll succumb to his intentional emo nakedness. It's just his style.

Aforementioned raven will go back in time and change things for the better, end of story.

In the town of Twin Peaks the name of the game is arm wrestling.

Dougie will stay Dougie from now till end or at least the very last episode where we'll maybe get a glimpse of his old self sipping coffee. Given up on the notion that Dougie will wise up; truth to tell I've warmed up to Mr. Jones--think he's Lynch's revenge on every wayward desire we've had for the familiar series back, and there's something somehow...appropriate...about his monologistic replies and Harry Langdon innocence compared to Mr. C's taciturn malevolence. Both don't waste words (Dougie is practically sphinxlike in his verbal stinginess) while Mr. C is looking more and more leathery and impassive the way Dougie is looking healthier and more serenely Zen.

Something instructional in the way Mr. C achieves his ends with near-magical high-tech devices while Dougie achieves his with a kind of Bricklike (see: Frank Capra's dictum involving masonry) grace. Richard Horne has proven venomous, but hasn't the organization or drive to spread his venom nationwide (for that you need his father); once in a while he has to review video footage of daddy to remind him how things really work.

Meanwhile: Audrey will prove to be trapped inside her own comatose body dreaming she's married to a small man named Charlie; Dougie and Mr. C will have a confrontation where brain-on-a-stick will hold C down while Dougie Jones chops at his larynx; Norma and Shelley and Nadine will all come to their senses and link up with Ed and Bobby and Dr. Jakoby or some combination thereof. Ben will get with Beverly, Dick will get what he richly deserves and if none of these latter calls pan out that's because while Game remains great (THAT'S how you stage an epic with richness of character and narrative significance Mr. Nolan) the peak of achievement in longform storytelling on the streaming or cable medium--literally breaking the mold as it masters it (THAT'S how you defy the conventional need for character and narrative Mr. Nolan)--remains Twin.

Thank Dougie! Thank him!
