Amp match for Sonus Faber grand piano
« on: Oct 30, 2017 at 06:36 PM »
Hi, i am not an audiophile but my brother will be sending me his old pair of Sonus Faber grand piano. What is a good matching amp for this and how much?

If i keep it within 50k, what are my options?

I am thinking of the Rotel RA-1572 (over budget) but i will have to save up for the difference...

Thanks

The Sonus Faber Grand Piano is very dark sounding, most likely because of the Heavy Bass.
It is best matched for a lively and bright sounding AMP to get the highs.
I have the same speaker and my best match is the Plinius.
Emotiva is also ok but lacks the control of the Plinius and is lacking on mid-range.

Hope this helps.

At 50K the EMOTIVA may be the only option.

Plinius P10 Power AMP https://www.whathifi.com/plinius/p10/review
The Sonus Faber Grand Piano is VERY HARD to drive and needs a powerful AMP.
