My Samsung MU6303
« on: Nov 27, 2017 at 12:51 PM »
Before having this, my first choice was actually the cheaply priced MU6100 which I thoroughly tested in SM appliance Center. Using my Nexbox A95x media player or just straight on its USB, the MU6100 plays my files flawlessly, including those small contents of 720x304 about 300+ mb in size, which I got from my office mates. Considering the size of the contents, when upscaled, the artifacts can be seen but if you stay about 10 feet away from the screen, the picture can be better, so goes the saying, “pwede na rin.”

In terms of the advertised review, the Sony x8500 is a mile better; hence I also had this in mind if I can get some more funding from my wife who only allowed me up to 65k. My supplier assured me the x8500 for 80.8k and 59k for the MU6100. That’s why my concentration was actually focused on these two. But the sales guys also invited me to audition the LG uj632 to have a wider perspective about UHD TVs in the market now.

After the 6100, we moved over the Sony x8500. I was actually frustrated when the TV choked and does not want to play my files via its USB slot. The sales guy confirmed it that Sony TVs generally are choosy when it comes to file extensions but when I hooked my media player the TV finally acknowledged it. My test contents for TVs are not the big 4k or 1080 files but rather, the mediocre 500 to 700mb files which generally are acceptable when viewed on desktop PCs or tablets. I believe that for the high quality files these UHD TVs can actually present them nicely with only minimal variances. One thing more, I will not be viewing 4k files or 1080 files every day. I buy my 720 and mostly 1080 contents and would not watch lower than those but considering the hassle of buying them, I now have become a recipient of small contents from my office mate who provide them freely to everybody.

Compared with the MU6100 the Sony x8500 is too dim or dark for me. The details which I saw on the 6100 on some darker areas were not there. It seemed that my decision between the two relied mostly on this. I was then leaning towards the MU6100. We transferred later to the LGuj632. Using the same content, I also find the LG lacking in vibrancy and still darker than the MU6100. But like the latter, it reads my USB immediately without signs of difficulty.  What was noticeable however, was its picture quality for 4k files; it lacks the clarity I can see on both the MU6100 and the Sony X8500. Even the TCL P2Us can beat this. According to the Sales guy, this could have been because of its IPS panel. I may not be able to describe the detailed variance between these TVs but my feelings was actually towards the 6100.

I was bent on purchasing the 6100 but my supplier said that it was no longer available but they have the curved version which is the 6103. Abenson likewise no longer have the 6100 and recommended as well the 6103. It seemed that I was resigned to get the 6103. But when I tested it, the same failed to acknowledge the signal from my Nexbox. From Abenson I went to SM to check it out if it is only that TV from Abenson that offers the problem. The same failed also to acknowledge my Nexbox. So I conclude that the problem is true to all 6103s.

The following day I spotted the MU 6303 at S&R. The 6303 is a bit higher in rating than the 6100 and with a price tag of 62.8k as compared with the 59 on the 6100. With my gadgets always ready in my bag, I did the same with the assistance of the Sales guy. This time the 6303 reacted swiftly like its younger brother 6100. Either through the USB or my Nexbox, picture quality wise, I can’t see much difference, though I like what I can see. Better to my eyes than the LG and Sony. And it’s a lot cheaper.
Abenson offers a cheaper delivery fee than my original supplier who offered 1.7k from Visayas Ave. to my residence in SJDM Bulacan. The same supplier promised to give the 6303 to me for 61,899k.  for a total of 63.599K. I asked Abenson if they can beat that price because I will get from them considering their delivery fee of only P400. I got my TCL 49P2US from Abenson with a good price discount last July.

I think  that could be a good reason too for them to give me a significant discount for the 6303. After a couple of minutes Abenson was already on the other end saying that they will be giving to me the 65 MU6303 for only 61.8k. Plus P400 this would be 62.2k all in all. I am now enjoying the MU6303 at home. Thanks Abenson for the discount.

The MU6303 is generally a pretty tv. It is not choosy. I don’t use this for regular TV broadcast. Its too big to watch the news or the vice ganda show; hence this is not connected to my cable. I am presently using my smaller TCL P2US for normal TV viewing. What I like is, it decently presents the content. My wife does not complain. The artifacts on files less than 480p are straightened up appropriately. For 4ks, as I have said there’s not much to çomplain about.

The only thing that I notice was the Small remote. The remote of my TCL is even aesthetically prettier and bigger. I have not fully explored the same. I will post some more, later.

Interesting! I did not know the 6303 had an ips panel...hows the view angle naman boss? My non curved 6103 has good blacks but bad angle views...a VA panel right there...

Some 6103 shots not too bad (4k) I would think that the higher model may have shots better than these...

I cant see it on its specs but i think this has a VA panel bro. My viewing area is narrow anyway and we actually sit in front of it. So i dont have an actual viewing angle problem.

Kindly share your settings. Supposed to get the LG 6320 but bought this without comparing it to LG. I like the LG better, sharper and brighter. Samsung more tealistic ang color rendition but LG is better for me.

Bro i always tinker on my settings depending on the contents i view. For 720 or 1080 files i usually set it to just standard. but for smaller files, I set it to dynamic. I am still learning how to use the expert settings. I dont use my 65 for regular broadcasts.

Its a VA Panel. Very good for its price.

"On its panel, Samsung MU6300 comes with Flat Panel and uses VA panel technology with Direct LED Backlight Technology. There is no local dimming technology behind it. As the instead, it is powered by UHD Dimming and Essential Black Pro technology for improving black level and contrast. Additionally, for improving color gamut coverage, there is 4K Color Drive Pro technology behind it that makes the color of the picture displayed on its screen looks saturated. Meanwhile, for delivering smooth picture quality when displaying fast moving images, it is supported by Motion Rate 120 Technology based on native 60 Hz refresh rate panel. And for completing your entertainment with smart features, Samsung MU6300 features 2017 version of Tizen OS that powered by a quad core processor."

The MU63xx is sometimes cheaper than the MU61xx depending on where you look.
