Playing Hi Resolution files on an analog amplifier
« on: Dec 19, 2017 at 05:38 PM »
Hi! Would like to ask your help on how to play Hi Resolution files. I have a 2 channel HK amp. Do I need a universal player? What would you suggest? Thanks

Where do you plan on putting on your files?
You need 2 things:
1. Music Server - can be as simple as a portable hdd connected to your router or a PC with media sharing
2. Streamer - gets the files from the server and output the music to your amp; chromecast audio or generic china audio pucks, or bose/musiccast/heos pre-amps

There are also all in one solutions like CXN so it really depends on your plan. I personally use a Network attached storage -> chromecast audio -> DAC -> Amp.

The basic. A DAC that can play high resolution files to convert it to analogue signal.

The simplest way is to get an old phone, 3.5mm to RCA to your HK, play your hi res music files. Two of my friends actually bought LG V20s as their network streamer, a step above your normal DAC.
