I just want to ask where should you put the mic for the calibration of your 5.1 sound set up if your couch/bed is against the wall? I've read from some forums that you should place the mic about 2 feet from the back to compensate for the reflections so that's about where your bum is. After I've done the setup, I would manually check the levels and put the sound meter where my head is (red dot) at ear height but the channel levels (surrounds too high) are off since they are based on where you initially placed the mic (black dot).
So should I place the setup mic where my exactly my head is so when I do the manual checking of the levels it would be the same?
Or should I put the setup mic 2 ft from the wall then after the setup, place the spl meter at my head position to readjust the levels? I was thinking it would mess up the equalization the setup has made since I'm readjusting the levels.
I hope I'm making sense.
I'm using a Yamaha receiver
