ALR Screen Test
« on: May 31, 2018 at 05:39 PM »
since I'm in china it's easy to source these materials as long as you have the patience & google translate via a VPN then your ready to go  ;D

just got those reflective cloth (Anti Light Reflecting), first was the thick light gray one which is used for EWD on clothing which was delivered folded & the other was a little dark gray thinner material which was delivered rolled. The first was much heavier & thicker than the 2nd cloth. Yes the viewing angle is really small as can seen from the sample shots, some shots where taken at an angle around 30deg (estimate) while other shots where taken Head on. It seems the thick reflective cloth is more brighter than the other but not very much. got both in taobao here in china. oh how I wish I could put a Frame on these! these where done around 5PM with windows behind me.

can you imagine shining a 1200ANSI Lumens on these, my eyes  8)
Messy experiment below using Xgimi CC 350ANSI

Are you using a camera or mobile phone to take pictures?

The difference using that ALR cloth was huge. Did you make a comparison on other screen as well?

Very interesting. I can just imagine how good this would be like with a laser projector.

I have a 100" white motorized screen & a 100" grey portable one & I have to say this with all honesty that my painted wall is a bit better than my screens. But when it comes to brightness none will beat those ALR screens, the big drawback on the screens that I'm using is that the viewing angle is very narrow at around 20~30 degrees only. Expensive ones can go around 60~80 degrees & more expensive one's @ almost 180 Degrees.

AFAIK most of the laser type pj's are UST & ALR screen are a nono for UST.
i'll check out AVS if anyone uses a laser pj + ALR screen.
